Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
I had a traveler magazine coupon for a hotel at this Thruway exit, but saw the Roadway first and figured I’d see if they’d match it. The basic price was actually a few dollars less, so I took it. Side note: I used the :handicapped” room on the first floor so can’t really make generalized comments about the rest, but mine was fine. One downcheck so just four stars is that, just like almost all hotels these days, the shower flow is abysmal…. Otherwise superb Oh, since the Trip Advisor form asks…. Yes, the hotel does allow pets. I’m not sure if there was a surcharge. Also, they have smoking rooms. (Not even the slightest hint of smoke in mine)

I wished it was like the photos and statements used on the website. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The hotel is going through an akward renovation resulting in half updated spaces. My room was clean and the bedding was top notch and very comfortable. One half of the large window was dressed nice (the other section wasn't) and the bathroom was half updated (shower was all newly tiled but faucet wasn't attached to anything behind the tiles, and the mirror, sink and vanity were old and marked up with burns). It was quiet at night and the AC worked well. There was no breakfast, although the website said there would be. Someone had thrown up next to my car in the one hour between when I checked in and when I left for dinner. That was still there the next morning when I checked out.

I recently stayed at the Redroof Inn in East Syracuse. As I was walking out of my room to checkout, a housekeeper named Mia, gave me attitude about hurrying up to get out of the room. I proceeded to the lobby where she came in and was putting her finger in my face saying we need to have a conversation outside. I felt threatened and attacked. Being a manager in the hospitality industry, I would never tolerate this type of behavior and there would be severe consequences. I feel an unjust was done and hope no one else has to experience what I did.

Very easy to get to off the Carrier circle round about. And next door neighbors with Dunkin donuts! Comfy beds! No elevator. Breakfast is basic. Just remember...it is economical, easy to find & comfy with lots of parking!

One part not their fault: we screwed up and inadvertently reserved a smoking room (yes, you can still find them, even in New York State). However...that room was the scruffiest place I have stayed in probably 40 years. Time was, we stayed in lots of cheap lodging, it was kind of a challenge. One cabin in New Hampshire, you could actually put your toe into a hole through the floor near the toilet. But that was then. So the room is really beat up, with dents in the inside of the door where some rowdy guest punched it out or had his head slammed into it, who can say. The bar of soap is tiny on the one hand, and insoluble in water on the other hand (or on either had or both together rubbing). The drawers are falling out of the dresser (not sure where the gideon bible is, if any). They apparently got into a feud with Dunkin next door because you can't park on that side of the motel, Dunkin threatens with a sign to tow your car, and you can't even walk around the building to get to your room because Dunkin built a wall and put up a hedge. Apparently the motel does own the sidewalk behind the building in front of the rear rooms, but nothing else. To get to the back you have to walk through the lobby and out through a door held open with a towel wrapped around the latch so it doesn't lock. By the time you book your stay they may have torn the place down, so if you are looking to try for a really bad room you may need to hurry. No sign of a wrecking ball, however.

Pros first....large parking lot, friendly staff, Dennys across the street, dunkin donuts beside, nice Italian rest close. Regular amo idea in the small room. We did snag an inside room, most have outside entrances. What other reviews said, we saw....questionable people. hanging out outside (Dunkin keeps their bathrooms locked), noisy all night, breakfast cereal, apple juice, muffin, bagel, coffee.

Place was easy to find. right on exit. Big parking. Recently renovated rooms. friendly staff. I have stayed other nearby hotels in past but this far better then those once. And rates are cheaper then most of them as well. Internet works really good.

This place is known as the John Milton Inn- it is BAD- we got the room on line from a place that does not disclose where you stay till you pay... it is NOT for families so beware! Place is crawling with homeless and drug addicts. Very disturbing and scary and we urge you to stay clear. Rooms are dingy and our shower was clogged and unable to even try to take a shower.

Dirty, dingy and old. No smoke detector in room, disabled. Lamp has no shade. Very disappointed. Bathroom has missing tile, noisy to boot. Needs updating or demolish it first. I don't recommend it. Worst room ever.
