Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We saw this mansion and heard about it while on a Hudson River cruise. From some of the reviews, I think it's much prettier from a distance than in person. We were told it's not a popular wedding venue.

Well, I don't know where the other people stayed who have left reviews, but we stayed in the Mansion in the Astor room. It was beautifully decorated in period style. It was exceptionally clean, well appointed, and comfortable. We made our reservations via AirBnB and with a couple phone calls to the mansion itself. The concierge was exceptionally friendly and helpful to us at all times. When our evening flight was delayed, they stayed after midnight to greet us when we arrived at 12:30 AM. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and had a bit of kind conversation for us. There might have once been things in a bit of disrepair, but they must have been improving because although the place is old (and all old buildings are in a state of repair at all times) it was well kept and clean. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. Ask for the Astor room!

Stayed in the mansion itself, not the carriage house. Beautiful building. Great porch outside the room with very comfortable chaise lounge chairs. Room itself very nicely decorated - authentic for the period. Breakfast excellent. Biggest drawback was lack of shower/shower curtain - bathroom had beautiful deep tub with hand held sprayer; couldn't take a shower.

While all the information in advance described this as a lovely property, unfortunately, it was NOT. Building is actually just a large farm house and is badly in need of repair. Floorboards on deck are loose, bird droppings on hand rails and all over,... interior is dark and dingy and staff is angry that you arrived for your reservation. AC is ineffective and noisy, rooms are tiny and everything is VERY worn and dirty,. The gardens could be lovely but are not kept up at all....tree boxes are coming apart, nothing is cared for at a reasonable level. Can see why it is not on AAA and why they insist on charging you before you see the accommodations! It is not a place to stay and certain would put a wedding off to a terrible start. suggest you move on!

At one time this was a magnificent hotel but no more...The $168.00 that we paid for the one night stay in the "carriage house" was highway robbery - the small room was no more than a cheap motel. Actually, worse than that - the room had no amenities - no cups, the toiletries consisted of a half bottle of body cream (had been previously used), no shampoo, no shower cap -and paper thin wash cloths. The king bed were two twin beds pulled together. The window blinds did not function and the curtains appeared worn and dirty. No television - which is okay for me but good to know. Think twice before staying here - you might be better off in a Motel ...........seriously!

Our daughter and her (then) fiance were married in late August in a lovely ceremony at the Belevedere Mansion. And despite rainy hour during the time scheduled for the ceremony, the indoor ceremony was very lovely. Jill and her staff magically transferred the seating and chupah indoors and all was kept to a schedule. The dinner party and dancing were equally enjoyable inside the large tents - and once the flaps went up - the guests were treated to a most beautiful sunset. For us, Belevedere was an ideal venue to celebrate our children on this very special day - the well appointed rooms and the patios were ideal and gave an impression of having a cocktail party in a private home. All guests enjoyed the grounds and some even the swimming pool. We are most grateful to Jill and her staff for making this a weekend that will be remembered by all for a long time. The food and the accompanying wines were ideally paired by Nick. We are glad to have accepted his many suggestions. Finally, Vladimir is an exceptional barman - and all guests enjoyed his joviality and fine drinks. So - Jill, Nick and Vladimir and your staff - many thanks for making this special day a magical experience for our children, their friends, our families and friends. Thanks much. Wish you continued success.

Dirty, musty, bug infested! We booked guests to stay at this property thinking it would be a special stay for them. When we went with them to check the room we were greeted by about 20-30 bugs crawling all over the ceiling! When we complained the "rude" woman at the front desk she merely said oh you mean the "stink bugs" (are you kidding me?) They gave us another room, it had less bugs. After this embarrassing discovery we demanded a refund- the front desk woman had the nerve to have an attitude instead of being apologetic! Im sure this was a spectacular place in 1920, it looks as if they haven’t changed a thing! PS 300.00 for a crappy room, I’d rather stay at a Holiday Inn!

I'm so glad I did not go by Trip Advisor reviews. We just enjoyed the nicest weekend at Belvedere Mansion. Our room ( Lafayette suite) was nicely appointed; comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, WiFi, spotless bathroom with deep tub, gorgeous views of Catskill mountains in the distance & Hudson River. There is also a large terrace off of the bedroom with lounge chairs. Breakfast was delicious (Vegetable fritatta for me & Belgian waffles for my daughter). The in ground pool was warm & refreshing. As guests, we were left undisturbed to explore the house & grounds at our leisure. We will definitely be back, hopefully with more time to enjoy this gorgeous historic (1760) property.

You know, it seems like a good value, and there were some positives, but I would NOT do it again! The worst part was dealing with the owner and the manager lady. They were rude and impossible. At every stage it felt like they were trying to pull one over on you and we're completely unaccommodating. Example- they didn't want a few extra cocktail tables to be brought in at personal expense to put a few things for the ceremony on - first they didn't want to have to set them up, when we offered to have the groomsmen set them up, there was some other excuse - not sure how this was at all an inconvenience to them. But that sums it up, somehow we always felt that we were inconveniencing them - which is ridiculous since we were paying them to have our wedding there. They were not at all accommodating to our guests, rooms were small and overpriced! We picked out wine, and then they just served different wine day-of without saying anything. Food was actually good though.

We had a wedding in Rhinebeck and had heard good things about the Belvedere Mansion. You can tell in its hay day , this place was magnificent, however, it is tired and needs a little facelift. The cupola in the parking lot roof is collapsed and very little flowers on this grand property, and it's springtime! Located on a dark road on a hill, so good luck finding it if it's dark out. Service (or lack of), was awkward. We came into the reception area to check in and the desk clerk said "you have a balance due of $154.". Not HELLO, my name is, WELCOME, or anything!!! Ok, I gave my credit card and she gave us a big brass key ring. No rules, or showing us to our room, or letting us know what time breakfast was, the normal B&B thing.......... Room was clean (Astor Suite) and fine, noise from the main road with the windows open. Bed was hard as a rock, uncomfortable. No bar, or people around, very quiet, we took our own bottle of wine on the patio, and shared it with a wasps nest behind the large shutters...........breakfast service was awkward too. SO quiet, you could hear a pin drop, and hours of breakfast are only one hour, between 9-10 a.m. I wanted to love this place with the grand dining room and antiques mixed w/ reproductions, but it seems this place is only interested in selling the property to brides to book their wedding (we saw 4 brides in one day looking at the place). For $300 per night, I expect MUCH better service and amenities, especially out in the sticks.
