Visited the place with my family. The place is run down needs some serious refurbishment, but the staff are doing all they can to make visitors feel at home. We had our own food, well cooked by the staff. May the 'owners' fix the bathrooms, toilets and pool. The staff cleaned our rooms to the best of their ability. The place can be fixed so that it claims its former glory, we pray that the rumoured to be coming new 'owners' or 'management' do something as soon as they can.

Необычный отель, расположен в уединенном месте на природе, вдали от суеты. Молодежь может скучать, особых развлечений не было, но для спокойного расслабленного отдыха - то что надо. Было все необходимое

Sorry to see that conditions have fallen on hard times at the Lodge. We stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful time. Yes the cold plunge pools were not filled with water but the swimming pool was. The bar was stocked as well as the kitchen. Sam prepared excellent meals....you would not believe it but he cooked over coal and wood in a wheel barrel. Have photos to prove it. At the time the Manager on duty was a Zimbabwean by the name of Charles. A great guy...wonderful guide...and a very entertaining fellow...he filled in the gaps since we were the only guest at the time. It is a shame what has happened...we were told that the Lodge was frequented mostly by South Africans. The General Mgr. at the time was David and he helped us arrange a Zambezi River Canoe Safari....great trip... thru Goliath tours. Things change and maybe there is good fortune in the future for the Lodge. In either case we have fond memories...especially of the bush plane forgetting to pick us up to return to Vic Falls. The Lodge did not charge us for the extra night. Remember this was 2003.…

We were on a 2 week safari, and booked to visit Chizarira between Hwange and Musango. When we got there the driver surprised us with a boot full of food and 2 bottles of wine, plus diesel to start the generator! It is advertised as a luxury lodge with fine dining and fully stocked bar. The bar only had a few glasses, not even bottled water. The kitchen resembled a disused scout camp prep area, with electric facilites such as fridges turned off for lack of diesel. Our driver prepared our mealsThe rooms had been cannibalised and left to rot, with broken verandahs furniture and windows, toilets with no ballcocks and light-fittings hanging by one screw over the bed. The pool and plunge pool had no water and no pipework to fill them. Our travel company were unaware of the state of this place and arranged a compensation for it…

We are just coming back from a 2 months trip in Namibia and Zimbabwe and Chizarira is one of the best place where we stayed . THe hotel is not in very good conditions (swimming pool and Jacuzzis are out of order and several planks of the rooms decks are broken) but Sam , the chief , and his staff are doing everything they can to give you the best . We had to bring our food but they did an incredible meal (and fresh bread) with nearly nothing . The area is fantastic of beauty and the rooms were perfectly clean . We understood that the concession was given , last year , to a south african company for 20 years and they are supposed to fix everything and to restart this place . We really hope .

We spent 3 nights in September 2010 in this wild lonely place. It is the fourth time we have visited and the effort to reach this off the beaten track lodge is well worthwhile. The lodge rooms are immaculate - open to wonderful views from the escarpment. Food is terrific (we are vegetarians) cooked by Sam. We are birders and the number of raptors seen was considerable. Animals were less plentiful and rather shy. Our guides Winston and Doug were very knowledgable but let us participate in the identification of the birds, animals and insects. Game drives and walks were enjoyable and the only really downside was the very bumpy track which connected the lodge to the National Park.
