We had a fabulous stay here in this wonderful private game reserve. My wife and I travelled with our 5 year old little girl and 8 month old baby. The game reserve is amazing itself, the accommodation excellent, with a lovely garden area and pool. The food was great. The staff were totally excellent, they organised babysitters whilst we were... We spent three days in Bayethe Lodge in Shamwari game reserve. We had four drives with Minos a senior ranger working at shamwari and we had definetly a very great time with him! He is very knowledgable and nice. He took us all over the reserve showing different species of animals and plants. He took us a for a pic-nic... More

We recently stayed at Bayethe Lodge for two nights as we were celebrating a big birthday. The location was good, but marred by the newly built cement wall (even if a low one) clearly seen from our first room. I had specifically enquired about having an outside shower, but our first room did not have one (hence a room swop... More

My Wife and I just spent 3 nights at Bayete Tented Lodge on the Shamwari Game Reserve. It was a trip of a life time. We started in Cape Town, then Franschhoek then ended on the Safari. The Lodge was beautiful and it was a real tent with canvas walls. The feel of a tent with luxury was quite a... More

We had 2 nights at Bayethe Lodge in between staying in Cape Town & Mauritius. We arrived about 2pm & were shown to our luxury lodge & by 4pm we were out on a drive. I think we had one of the most experienced rangers there..Mino. He was superb & couldn't of made our trip any more special. All the... More

Just back from a 2 night stay at Long Lee Manor. My friend and I had an actioned packed 2 weeks in the Cape and Shamwari was our last stop before coming home. Well talk about saving the best until last! It was right at the end of the season - so the whole place was very quiet as they... More

Explorer camp is part of the Shamwari lodges and offers nights out in the bush with a walking guild. Most people then go on to stay at one of the lodges Maybe just maybe thanks to Tim, our guide, one the best experiences of both my wife and I's life. We stayed three nights at the Bayethe Lodge and had three early morning and three evening game drives. The experience was truly outstanding with excellent service and fantastic rangers, especially Jacques who provided such enthusiastic detail and information about the animals, plants and bird life. The "tents" were simply amazing with large bedrooms, dressing rooms and very well appointed ensuite... More

Our family of five booked out the wilderness camp and had a great time. Note however that this is not really "glamping" but rather comfortable, well-supported camping. The site is small and intimate so it was great that we had booked out the whole camp as I would not have wanted to share with strangers. Our guides / hosts, Tim... More
