Walking distance to everything in the charming lakeside town of Excelsior. Historic accommodations to go with the historic town. Rooms are private, clean and quiet. Owners were very hospitable and accommodating. It worked great when we visited as a family but this is a place I look forward to for a future romantic getaway.

We stayed here in the Turtledove room for a Bruce Springsteen concert at Xcel Energy Center, 40 min NE of Excelsior. Breakfast at the Inn was wonderful, creamcheese stuffed frenchtoast and fresh fruit with yogurt the first day and wonderfully fluffy quiche and springmix salad with cranberry cheese, fruitbreads the 2nd morning. It was quite comfortable coming to breakfast in... More

This was a lovely B&B, very comfortable with a hearty breakfast. Funny enough, I never thought of myself as much of a B&B type person. (Truth be told, it had been almost 20 years since my last stay in one.) The location is what drew me to stay here. There aren’t a lot of hotels in the immediate area, and... More

Thanks for your review, we appreciate it, and are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks also for the insight about campaign signs. To explain briefly, the owner of the property was running in a non-partisan county race, so we were ok with two or three signs placed on the property. But we totally get your point, and consider it a... More

We had 3 nights here in early July with a friend. We swapped rooms with her as the stairs to the Hummingbird room aren't too easy for less mobile people. We shared a bathroom- also not a problem. Breakfasts were really excellent and I would happily stay here again. Helen V.

I was on the hunt for a small wedding venue...small as in 15 guests...and surprisingly it's really hard to find! I stumbled upon the Birdhouse Inn somewhere in the depths of google and I am so glad I did! The innkeepers were friendly and helpful and the character of the property was perfect for our wedding...we couldn't have been happier.... More

Thank you! It was a lovely day for a wedding! We're always happy to work with couples on finding the right arrangement for their big day. Our wedding packages are reasonably priced, and we strive to offer a relaxed and friendly experience. Now, we better get outside to mow, we've got a bridal shower tomorrow! More

I made arrangements for out of town guests to stay in the cardinal suite and I joined them each morning for breakfast. The proprietors are friendly and welcoming, know the town well, and made excellent suggestions for places to go for dinner. My guests said the room was comfortable and I know the breakfasts were delicious.

We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed. There is a new hostess, Jeannie, who is as lovely as Catherine before her. The home is clean and beautiful, and right downtown Excelsior which is fun to walk around and shop on the way to the lake, only a few blocks away. They have a spontaneity deal; if... More

Stayed here during a road trip and this was our first time in Minnesota. We didn't know much about the area and randomly picked Excelsior, in part because of the Inn. The property and house are very charming. We got a great rate for a Sunday evening and the innkeeper gave us good advice on some restaurants to try. The... More

Thank you for your kind words. As the new innkeepers at the Bird House, we are working hard to update the property and provide a pleasant and welcoming place to stay! Excelsior is a great little village situated on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, and we are always discovering new adventures in our new home-we can't wait to share them... More

Had the pleasure of staying over July 4th. Location could not be much better (unless waterfront). Shops and restaurants in town are very nice. Waterfront quite picturesque. Property is in need of cleaning & painting. Spiders in room and lack of showers was disappointing, yet the rooms were a nice siZe, beds comfy, breakfast delicious and staff friendly. Though the... This is a beautiful home built in the 1850's. Our family of 7 stayed in Excelsior for a family memorial. The B&B was near the lake, easy walking distance. The proprietor (Catherine) will make you an incredible breakfast she is also great on knowledge of the area and a great conversationalist. I love the Excelsior area with great shops, Irish... More
