We just returned from a Thanksgiving weekend stay at Timber Trail. We stayed in Basswood cabin (2 adults and our dog). It was clean and cozy. We appreciated the rustic setting with the nice view of the lake. We enjoyed cooking, playing games at the big kitchen table, and reading by the fireplace. It was our first time to Ely,... More

Had a pretty nice stay in the offseason. The location was prime on beautiful farm lake. Our cabin was very well maintained on the inside, every thing worked well, the water was hot, and you could tell that the owners take good care of the cabins. It's only fair to point out some of the things that detracted from an... More

We have been coming here every Aug. for the last 11 yrs. with friends that have been coming here since the Forsbergs opened 18 yrs ago. We travel 11 hrs. from Illinois and can say it has been worth it every time. They always make us feel like we are family and do whatever they can to make our stay... More

I have been to Timber Trails 17 times over the past ten years, and each trip is a treat. We've stayed in several different cabins, and each one was great. The Forsberg family is always so welcoming to us. And, if you need a guide, like we always do, Rob Nelson will not disappoint. Our September trip this year was... More

This was our best family trip yet. There was something for everyone...canoeing, hiking, fishing, shopping, sandy beach with paddle boats and kyacks. The cabins were adorable and very clean with helpful staff. A must destination. More

My extended family (3 generations + dogs) has been staying at Timber Trail for at least a week each summer for probably close to 20 years (and coming to the Ely area for much longer than that). We have stayed in at least three of the Timber Trail cabins as well as all 4 of the little motel efficiency kitchenettes,... More

Great cabins and awsome service. After staying at this perfect northwoods resort it's no wonder why ely is one of the coolest towns. I will be back this summer. More

Our Blue Spruce Cabin was our home away from home for the last 5 days. Since there wasn't any snow in our area we drove 10 hours to find snow. The cabin was centrally located on the Tomahawk trail and was 15 minutes tops from downtown Ely. Cabin was clean, the beds were very comfortable and were well equipped for... More

I guess they don't care much for snowmobilers. No dining not even a glass of wine by a warm fire in a lodge at this place. In fact they claim to be a Lodge but it really isn't what most people would consider a Lodge. You know like the one by the bridge or the nice one in Ely where... More

Unfortunately this reviewer is seeking amenities we do not offer at Timber Trail Lodge as indicated in our website. When we are aware that guests are seeking resturant and bar facilities we gladly refer them to a property that offers those amenities. We do not. During the winter we mainly provide contract housing for the International Wolf Center and Wintergreen... More

Our 5-day stay at Timber Trail Lodge while attending classes at the International Wolf Center was wonderful. Management and staff were very accommodating and helpful. Our "Evergreen" cabin was spacious yet cozy and everything was spotless! Staff recommended hiking the Kawishiwi Trail to Kawishiwi falls-we did and we highly recommend it. It was our favorite of the local trails. More
