Located in Glenn Arbor, MI, a long way south of Traverse City. I have been to some of the best beaches in the world (Hawaii 8 times, Thailand, Caribbean, Turkey, Zanzibar, etc.) and believe me, this is in the top 5 except that the crystal clear water is about 65F, easy to get used to but certainly not warm. White... More

I wouldn't consider this "Traverse City", but more Glen Arbor. Regardless. 88 rustic sites. Rustic means Pit toilets, and spigots for water. Bring jugs or other water carriers. NO RESERVATIONS at this campground (unlike the park's Platte River campground to the south) but there is a 15-30 site turnaround each day, so if you show up early enough, you'll probably... More

This is a great place to stay while visiting Sleeping Bear. The campground is 3 minutes by bicycle from the attractions in Glen Haven and 15 minutes by bicycle from the Dune Climb. The sites are only $12/night. The view from the beach at night is priceless (both the stars and the lights from the houses down the shore). This... More

My wife and I took our 2 kids around Memorial Day 2012. We are avid campers, we camp rustic campgrounds approximately twice a year. First the good: This campground's location is fantastic, right on (quick walk) to Lake Michigan the beach is amazing. The campground has plenty of restrooms (out house buildings which are fairly clean), dumpsters for trash and... More

This is easily one of the best primitive campsites I've ever experienced. If you're looking to get back to nature, then this is the place for you. The campground is primitive and very quiet and peaceful. Each site has a picnic table, a fire pit with a grill rack on hinges, and a designated flatspot to pitch your tent, which... More

We stayed here the night after camping at Traverse City State Park. This campground was a welcome change. It is a rustic campground, but very beautiful, . The sites are spacious and clean. The campground was very quiet. It is well away from trafic. A beautiful sandy beach on Lake Michigan is an easy short walk away. The campground is... More

My husband and I stayed there this past weekend (Oct 17th) and it was very quiet and nice. We stayed at one of the prime spots, with their own access to the Lake Michigan. We both agreed that this was one of the best campgrounds, especially for fall camping. Its close to hiking trails, the Dunes, and quaint towns and... More

We have stayed at the DH Day many times. Since it is part of the National Park system it is rustic but absolutely beautiful. The campsites are level and the built in grills on the fire pits are nice. This is a popular spot, during the busy summer months people get in line by 5:00AM to get one of the... More

My wife and I found this to be among the cleanest campsites we've been to - fresh gravel-paved tent sites nicely sectioned off with wood planks, new tables and fire pits, and the nicest, cleanest outhouses if there ever was such a thing. The staff was also very friendly and courteous yet respectful of your privacy. The poison ivy was... More

It is first come first serve. No reservations. Camping with direct access to a beautiful beach on a georgous lake and no crowds. It had everything I wanted, and much more than I expected. Trails, lakes, rivers, canoeing, fishing, hiking, golf on fantastic courses all within a short drive or walk and the list goes on... Views of sunsets that... More
