Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful place to spend a short honeymoon trip. Service and cleanliness were top notch. Hotel was quiet and perfect for adults. It even had a nice reading nook in the front, The windows overlooked on the Boulevard which was lit up with decorative lights. Beautiful views from the front of the hotel of Lake Michigan and beautiful views of the city park from the back side.

Overall excellent stay! Our kids are older, and we stayed in the 2 bedroom King Suite. The hospitality from the first phone call was superb. The staff is very friendly and seems to work hard to put forth a positive attitude and wonderful energy for the guests. I would say this was the greatest strength. The room is very nice and exactly what one should expect for a small town in Michigan on the higher end. Overall, the room was also clean. We did have a couple of smaller issues, but once again, to the credit of the staff, the manager worked to make it right and quickly responded to our concerns. The location is also fantastic - it's a 5 min walk down to the beach and the delicious pizza place by the tracks. It's also just a few minute walk into town. We left our car for days and pretty much walked everywhere. We will ABSOLUTELY be returning - thank you for a great experience!

Pros: The Boulevard continues to be our favorite place to stay in our favorite town of St. Joseph. The lobby renovations and new carpeting throughout look great and we enjoyed an evening in the lobby on the comfortable couch reading and relaxing. You can't beat the location. The staff were all very friendly. The hotel is clean and the beds are comfortable with a variety of both soft and firm pillows offered. Cons: There used to be an outstanding free breakfast offered. For the price of the room, I am disappointed that this is no longer offered. It seemed to go away during Covid, and for awhile a very small continental breakfast was offered, but now even that is gone. You can get a discount at the bistro downstairs for breakfast, but only 10% which really isn't much given it's quite pricey. We went and got breakfast at Cafe Tossi down the street, which is really good. The furniture in the rooms could use some updating next, the couches and chairs are somewhat worn, and the fridge was very noisy. I would also recommend a room on an upper floor as you can hear a lot above you on the lower floors, like any hotel. The pros continue to outweigh the cons for me, however, and we will continue to return to the Boulevard!

For over 300.00 a night you would think I would not have to write this. Where to begin first the front desk woman was as friendly as a rock. The rooms were so outdated under the toliet piping was complete rust! The shower head was like a dollar store discount horrible! The refrigerator looked like 1970 in the room. Everything felt old and outdated. No comfort for the customers at all half didn't speak English! The location is perfect such a shame that the owners do not keep updating. Elevator was so outdated as were the fixtures on Everything. At least off a simple free breakfast or a nightly turndown fresh cookies something to make it more comfortable! We will not be back.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Boulevard Inn recently. This hotel is very centrally located and well equipped, just a short stroll to the beach and downtown St. Joseph. Also loved the cookies which are available in the lobby in the afternoon, just what’s needed when returning from a day exploring the local area. However, the stand out for me was the staff, they were super helpful and helped us sort out some transportation issues we had, big shout out to Peggy for that. Also the staff in the restaurant treated us exceptionally and were really attentive. Thanks to all for making our short stay very memorable.

Review by: Carolyn's Travel, (Professional Travel Consultantcy). Downgrades - resistance to advertised, discount reducing reservation, (both online; & hotel. Call, specify, inquire) - former incl. breakfast - current reviews go to sales A minimum of 200 characters are necessary to be reviewed. Here are additional comments of amenities. Casual, lovely restaurant. The menu very much gourmet. One dish is served to incld a vegetable. Service is impeccable.

Hotel location is prime. Within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. They do not offer a shuttle though for those of use wanting to go further. The restaurant is nice and updated but the hotel itself is really outdated. It could really use a full update to make it more appealing. Breakfast at the restaurant was ok. Not a lot of menu options. Another bummer is no pool!

What was formerly the best hotel in Saint Joseph, Michigan is sadly in need of updating. It was a good thing my husband wasn’t with me as they had two double beds instead of queen beds and his height would have found this very uncomfortable. I am very short and the commode was so close to the floor it was dizzying. And to top it off, there was no drain plug in the tub. Like most properties post COVID they do not provide any housekeeping services which is okay but be aware.

We stayed here for a wedding and the charged both the bride and myself for my room. When we noticed after leaving, we called to straighten it out and they refused to refund either of us so I had to contact my credit card issuer to get it fixed. The hotel rooms themselves are very run down. The refrigerators are loud and cranky, decor out-dated, pillows cheap and lumpy, and the a/c doesn’t work well. During our stay we called for maintenance because our shower was broken and sprayed water clear over the entire bathroom, making the floor very slippery and dangerous. Maintenance came and did nothing but tell us that is how the shower is and we would have to deal with it. We also called to request housekeeping during our stay as they do not offer it unless requested. They insisted that we had to leave the room before housekeeping arrived so we took my aging father and carted him around town with his cane for several hours. When we returned, our room was exactly as we had left it. Housekeeping never came. We called the front desk and were told it was too late to get housekeeping at that time even though it was just after 1pm local time. Others in our party were advised they could not rent a single room for themselves but had to pay for an entire suite for one guest. We blocked off a number of both single rooms and suites for our party but all who reserved early were forced into suites, regardless of party size. Those who reserved rooms later were able to get single rooms, although earlier parties were told those were all booked. I see this as the hotel being dishonest in order to ensure the expensive rooms filled up first. The restaurant is excellent but I would never stay at this hotel again and I certainly would never utilize this place for any kind of event where I want my guests to be comfortable. For $500+ a night we could have stayed in a much nicer hotel and we were extremely disappointed at how we were treated before, during, and after our stay at Boulevard.

We stayed at the hotel during the Krasl Art Fair weekend. The hotel seemed full. Most people seemed to be vacation families going to the beach. The hotel has a little bit of a dated, 80s vibe. But it actually has been nicely updated. Our room, which turned out to be a two room suite with a lake view, was modern enough and very clean. The location is perfect. The hotel is right in the cute shopping and eating Main Street district bordering the lovely Bluffs park. The beach is a short walk down the bluffs and out to the water. We are at the hotel both nights because it was hard to get in anywhere else. Our dinners both nights exceed our expectations.
