A chateau is a manor with a tower. Nothing to do with size, sufficiency, or. Royal bequeathment. That is what Didier and Sylvie told us on our last night here. This B&B is more than sufficient. Our local cheese shop in Denver, The Truffle Cheese Shop arranged our tour. There were 10 of us, limited by the number of Limoges... More

We had a superb stay here. The Manoir itself is beautiful and Slyvie and Didier Baudard du Fontaine are a really lovely couple who manage to achieve a homely welcoming atmosphere in stunning surroundings - a rare combination! Our room, Madame Barry was lovely with a very comfortable bed. We were given a tour of the wine tresoir by Didier... More

Didier and Sylvie have every right to be proud of the Manoir, for Didier has recovered his ancestral home after over two hundred years. The other reviews accurately describe this beautiful and wonderful place, which functions as a family home as well as a first class chambre d'hote. But our abiding memory is of a couple who have not come... More

Outstanding in its own field! Definite plans to return. Sylvie & Diedier Baudard de Fontaine are the ultimate hosts: lovely accommodations, delicious and bountiful breakfasts, impeccable taste, and as a generational family member, knows not only the history of the area (which we've traveled several times), but that of this lovely home. You MUST go and experience it.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on our way to the Dordogne. We both wished it had been for longer. The owner and his wife are charming hosts and we were afforded a very warm welcome. Prior to our departure Didier was kind enough to give us a guided tour of the Manoir which is full of... More

My wife and I stayed there for three nights during the weekend a week ago. Words cannot express the hospitality, welcoming and goodwill of Didier and his wife. First of all Vouvray is close to all Loire Valley attractions, 25 minutes from Chambord from one side and 25 minutes from Villandry from the other side. Only 5 minutes from Tours.... More

Beautiful private setting on your way to visit the region's finest châteaux and other attractions. Finely appointed rooms, quiet setting, warm welcome from the owners, full breakfast in the manoir's formal dining room, surrounded by the owner's ancestral portraits. We highly recommend this 18th century lodging with all the comforts of the 21st century for visiting the western part of... More

The Manoir de l'Echeneau is a gorgeous 17th Century manor meticulously restored by its owners, Didier and Sylvie Baudard de Fontaine, situated in the quaint town of Vouvray. Run as a B&B, our room was both spacious and well appointed, a real bargain considering the reasonable room rates. The owner, Didier, daily presided over breakfast, with fresh breads, French pressed... More

This is an elegant house in Vouvray, dating from 1720 and managed by a descendent of the original owner. Our bedroom was spacious and beautifully furnished. Our large, modern bathroom looked as if it had just been remodeled. The owner, M. Baudard de Fontaine, speaks good English. We needed to use a telephone to change plans, due to a family emergency....
