Our whole family really loves to visit Ellis Lake Resort at least 2 times every summer. It is a great place for, hunting, swimming, and most definatley fishing. We strongly recommend that you decide to stay there. The atmosphere is very warm, and you have your own privacy there. The cabins are also separated very nicely.

Every year we visit Ellis Lake Resort for our anniversary. We love the outdoors, grilling, and the bonfire pit. The cabins are very cozzy and warm. We wouldn't go anywhere else:) On the other hand, there is a ton of traffic when staying in any of the three cabins by the road.

Look over the map for this property. There are 3 cabins in the front-Pine, Cedar and Maple. They are about 75 feet from a major highway. We heard traffic all day and night including semis and even a few emergency vehicles. We expressed this concern when we left and were told they try to inform everyone staying in these cabins... More

We've been staying at this resort on and off since 1995 for 2 night getaways. If you are on the look out for a "little house on the prairie" type experience to step back in time without the inconveniences and high setup investment (especially time) that camping in the woods requires, I highly recommend this place. We staying in what looked like a shed. No amenities at all, except one bar of soap. No shampoo, coffee, hair dryer. Decoration is terrible and furniture was beat up. REALLY disappointing considering the price we paid. Would not go back. Would rather venture in to Traverse City and stay at a motel.
