When I looked at the web site, it looked like a classy place, and priced to match. I was half right. The room was not in the main building - it was across the lawn, and had a gravel parking lot. The room was recently renovated - vinyl "wood floor", paint, etc. This ground floor level room had two entry... More

I regret this guest had unpleasant stay. 1. There are no sprinklers because the building is only two stories and the Michigan fire code does not require to two story buildings. 2. There are no smoke detectors required in our building because all of the rooms have two exit points that lead to the outside. There are no interior walls.... More

The Colonial Inn is one of those places that you want to be really great. The main building has lots of charm and character, the grounds are very pretty and it is located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood on the edge of the bay. Unfortunately there is some issues that keep it from being a perfect place to stay. We... More

After reading this review, we went to the room and we found a one foot square area in the back right corner of the bathroom. We immediately called our plumber who when he checked found out that a water shut-off valve in the ceiling that had been slowly dripping has caused the problem. He replaced the valve and removed the damaged... Stayed 2 nights for our 52nd anniversary. Needs a lot of work in buildings and grounds. Several buildings. Floor buckling by each door in our room. No trustworthy security locks. Breakfast (very spartan continental) in main building requiring walk or drive. No newspapers available (had to go into town). Dark bathroom, AC needs filters cleaned, lamp lightbulb missing so borrowed... More

The hotel is beautiful on a quiet street about a block from the bay. Our room was on the second floor (no elevator) of the main building. It was small (2 beds and a nightstand) but clean. Our floor sloped noticably toward the bathroom adding charm. This place has character. I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast or... More

All other Bed & Breakfasts in the area were booked, so we felt lucky to get a room at the Colonial Inn. Although the service at the front desk was great, the room left much to be desired. We did not stay in the main house, but stayed in another building. Although it had been remodeled, it still needed improvements.... More

We liked the Colonial Inn when we came across this hotel a couple of years ago and decided to return this year. We had rooms in the main house which are large and comfortable. I like the minimal decorating rather than the clutter you sometimes find in historic themed places. Great location in Harbor Springs.

When my family checked into the colonial inn we were given a big room newly remodeled. We liked the hard wood floors and the artwork. The rooms were clean and the location was good. My kids enjoyed swimming at the dock. Thumbs up for the pool and the big spa. The service was good and I hope to return soon.

This was a great place to stay. 4 girlfriends together for relaxation, shopping and fun. I would recommend the Inn to anyone. Very clean and the free breakfast is a real treat. The hot tub was nice and the pool was also.
