Though it looks like a typical .50's motel from the outside, the rooms are great. Dark knotty pine walls, spacious, with nice clean carpet. Our room had a king 4-poster bed and a jacuzzi tub/shower. Convenient location near Williams College, and a complimentary hot full breakfast buffet at the pub next door. I'd stay here any time.

I stayed for 2 nights during the off-season (mid-March). We were able to get a discounted rate and a voucher for dinner at the on-site restaurant (which was excellent!). Since there were only two other vistors, our room and breakfast was upgraded. Everything is in good condition, and the rooms are beautiful. Ours had a fireplace.

I love this place. My family stays here whenever we go to the mountains, and this was the best visit yet. My husband, daughter and I travelled to Williamstown to visit Williams College. We arrived very late in the evening. Our key was taped to the door of the reception area, which we appreciated. The breakfast was yummy and the grounds were nice. We would stay at 1896 House again and would recommend it to friends.
