We spent a winter weekend on Marthas Vineyard at The 1720 House and loved every minute. The sun shone brightly so it was warm enough to walk along trails and beaches with no crowds. Enough restaurants were open so we ate great food. The B&B served us hot chocolates and brownies and teas in the afternoons. The owner and her... More

The 1720 House was just right for our family – and our budget. We loved the feeling of staying in a home that was built in the early 18th Century. And, although this quaint B&B has retained its historic character, it still offers amenities like air conditioning, free wi-fi and modern bathrooms. Perhaps the most convenient feature was the location.... More

We stayed at the charming 1720 House bed-and-breakfast in the winter, a few days before Christmas. The island was decked out with beautiful holiday lights and was delightfully quiet – none of the traffic or crowded restaurants and beaches of the high season. Our room was warm and cozy, spotlessly clean, and it had a view with a glimpse of... More

This was our first trip to the States and picked the 1720 House from the Internet and we were not disappointed. The house is lovely and the rooms clean and our bed very comfortable. Cheryle was very helpful and accommodating and Continental breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice for cereal, fruit, yogurt etc. Would definitely recommend the 1720 House. More

I stay at 1720 two or three times a year, combining business and pleasure. The location can't be beat, a 5 minute walk to the Vineyard Haven ferry (and downtown restaurants and shops), when I don't need to bring my car over and parking when I do. The host and her staff are extremely helpful, really in the know about... More

Cheryle was great from start to finish. Our room was ready early. Out bathroom was updated and clean. Breakfast was simple but excellent, with lots of fresh fruit. We used two bikes to take a tour of the local area. Would definitely stay here again. More

Abby Hirsch Is a very rude host and has no business running a Bed and Breakfast. We had made plans to stay at her B&B for our 25th Anniversary, we received the coldest reception, in one of the worst storms ever, we were dripping wet and and she was annoyed. She never had roses and champagne waiting in the room... More

We totally disagree with this clients comments .When she (they) arrived we greeted them with sympathy and a lot of towels to dry off their clothes and suitcases. We did not "give away" her room but told her over a month before her arrival date that we could only accomodate her for 3 nights and offered to either book part... More

Stayed at the 1720 home for my wife's birthday. Cheryle, our hostess, was very accomodating and went the extra mile to make our stay wonder-filled, with flowers showing up at our doorway. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, granola, breads and yogurt along with some columbia java. We stayed in the Garden Room and it was spacious and clean. The... More

This accomodation is a short walk from the ferry. And if you like History, you will enjoy the decor, we sure did. The hospitality was wonderful and the food was delicious. Everything was so neat and clean. My sister, mother and I stayed there and we had our own private bathroom. We were able to leave our things in the... More

Ok so the good first: The b&b is in a nice location for walks, a small amount of shopping, and there is a good running route out towards the north point of vineyard haven. The house does have some historical interest as well. Now the bad: The room was small and not clean - it had cobwebs in the corners,... More
