Generally enjoyed our stay here, although the place has a few quirks. The location is great (quiet neighborhood, 5 min walk to the T and Davis Sq) and we enjoyed the outdoor seating areas. Breakfast was fairly basic but did the job. We hardly saw the hosts, and it didn't seem to be the kind of B&B where you receive a personal welcome or make lots of small talk with the owners. It seemed to be easier to reach them via email (which was answered promptly) than to find them in person. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed being able to open the windows for fresh air. Internet worked well and we enjoyed meeting the resident cat. Our room was fairly tidy but despite the b&b being described as "ultra-clean" we found long hairs on the shower wall and a dried up cookie on the carpet by the nightstand. Not deal breakers, but the room could've been cleaned better. The website could also be updated to show more current images and room descriptions. For example. there was no "antique secretary" in our room, just a basic desk, and less floor space than depicted in the photos due to other furniture now being in the room (larger chair, fridge, etc). The closet now had a curtain rather than a door. We heard quite a bit of noise from the neighboring room (talking, coughing, child crying) but guess that is to be expected in a house. Overall, a convenient and comfortable place to stay, but could use a little freshening up and may not be to everyone's taste. …

Response from Ronald Dynneson, Owner at Morrison House Bed & Breakfast
Responded 25 May 2023
We were transitioning from our outgoing housekeeper, who was perhaps losing focus in her last few days, to our new housekeeper, whom we are training. It's not a great excuse, but we certainly hope that never again will a guest see a leftover cookie on the floor or hair in the shower! We did make a lot of changes to the rooms during Covid, some of which we kept. One of the changes was to make sure there was a place in every room to eat in the room if so desired. The antique secretary was a casualty, but in it's place is a modern bamboo-top table. It is quite a project to photograph 12 guest rooms and update the websites, but I guess we should get started on it! Thank you for staying with us, and I hope that you do return.

Awesome B&B! Comfortable, relaxing, clean, great location! Hosts are very accommodating. I used public transportation to get around and the station was only a 2 minute walk away. There are plenty of places to eat; also just a couple minute walk!

Great location! Close to the Davis Square (Red line), restaurants, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious with a private bath. Breakfast is from 8-9 - tasty and plentiful. Beautiful gardens. Highly recommend. It worked great for us. Many thanks.

The location of this B&B is perfect. Within walking distance of the Red T, numerous good restaurant's and a green belt. The rooms are very comfortable with a bed, a desk, a couple of chairs, TV, refrigerator and microwave. We were upgraded to a room with a bathroom which was very nice. The breakfast is continental (cereal, yogurt, toast, hard boiled eggs, juice and french press coffee) with fresh fruit and an interesting baked bread. The breakfast is normally served between 8-9. We had to leave early one morning and there was no issue in getting our breakfast early. The cat was very friendly!

Recently stayed at Morrison House. Room was neat; excellent shower pressure. Staff was welcoming and attentive, but not intrusive. Flexible with arrival and departure time. Location is obviously excellent, less than 5 minutes away from Davis square by foot. HIGHLY recommend!

Well maintained; charming; had a comfortable bed; good breakfast; good location for my purposes. Subway line and many good restaurants a few blocks away in Davis Square. I stayed in the Little Room, which was perfect for one person. Shared breakfast with couples and families, several from Europe. Great experience overall. Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I have been fortunate to have visited dozens of b and bs through the years. We prefer them over hotels to experience local hospitality. We like the feeling of being greeted like long lost family. Unfortunately, this was not our experience at Morrison House. We felt as if we were more an unwanted solicitor when the host came to the door. He did not introduce himself but instead commented on how we didn't park properly in the driveway. His second statement was to ask how were we going to pay for our stay. There was little communication after that for the 4 nights we stayed there. He did give a brusque tutorial on how to use the french press for the coffee. Frankly, it would be nice for the hosts to prepare the coffee. While we are on the subject of breakfast, I must disagree with prior reviews as to its quality. For all 4 days, it consisted of hard boiled eggs and dry cereal. The muffins were good as was the fruit. At best, I would describe it as spartan. The table would be set up 8 am and the host would stop in briefly to ask if everything was ok. Lest I only focus on the negatives, I concur with the prior reviews that the location was good as was the shower. A large in room refrigerator was also a plus. Unfortunately, this did not outweigh the negatives for us.…

the location was ideal for a more relaxed visit to Boston for marathon weekend. The b&b is a minute or two away from the red line and takes you almost straight to the start line. Hosts were very helpful and the room, facilities and breakfast were all excellent

When looking for a place to stay in the Boston area for a week, I happened upon Morrison House B&B. I didn’t really know what to expect but I have been very satisfied! The correspondence from the keepers was timely, provided clear directions, and offered information about the area. The location is just off the red line, less than 5 minutes. The house is clean and well taken care of and the breakfasts were great. They did a great job of providing gluten free options. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend it!!
