I love this place! Location! Location! Location! i have only been in the summer. A full buffet breakfast is included and served on the screend in porch overlooking the breathtaking view. There is a small pool where you can enjoy the magnificent setting. Right next to the property, there is a great walking path along the water. Kids will love... More

We chose to stay here for a night in late April while visiting friends in Danvers and Gloucester. We chose it specifically because it was a historic inn and also, of course, because it is on the rocky coast. Although I no longer live on the North Shore I grew up there, so returning to Rockport always boosts my spirits.... More

This was our second stay at this inn. This time I opted for a king room as opposed to a smaller, cheaper room on the 4th floor. It wasn't money well spent. The room was small, dated and not worth what I paid. The carpets are indoor/outdoor, the furniture is shabby and the mattress was hard as a rock. I... More

The last of the "little" grand hotels, Emerson by the Sea is charming -- Ralph Waldo really stayed here and the views of Pigeon Cove probably have changed very little. Our fourth floor king room was comfortable, quiet and very clean. No lift, which we knew, so we got our exercise and the added benefit of access to the "sundeck"... More

We spent New Years Eve here in a king/canopy room with an ocean view (although having a view is not a benefit in winter when everything can look so gray). The room was large enough to have two wing chairs, a large bureau and a writing desk. The newer bathroom was also good size. Dinner in the semi-formal dining room was... More

We went to Emerson Inn by the Sea on the night of our wedding...it was quiet, peaceful and the perfect get away. There was a pretty serious storm whipping through while we were there and it just added to the adventure! We dined in that night - food was excellent, staff courteous and helpful. Our room was quaint and cozy.... More

On our 2nd visit here in 3 years my wife and i got cozy and chilled in our oceanview room... a flashback to the 1800s and guests need to understand that... also we got chills up our spines when on two occasions we heard what sounded like boots clumping onto a wooden floor... and we were the ONLY guests in... Our 30th Anniversary couldn't have been more of a delight for a stay on the day after Christmas. We awoke to a "Nor-Easter" Storm that added to the mystique and sense of adventure. Any time of year, Rockport and the Emerson Inn have special appeal, and the drama of Cape Ann was especially welcome in light of the un-crowded quality... More

Thank you for celebrating your 30th anniversary with us. I'm glad you enjoyed the storm! There's nothing like the sound of a fierce ocean storm with crashing waves and howling wind. I confess...I love watching and listening to them, too. We look forward to your next visit. More

I spent a delightful evening at the Emerson Inn by the Sea in Rockport in early November. I was booked into Room 302 and I had no problems whatsoever. Yes, admittedly the room was quite small, but I was travelling alone and found it more than adequate and comfortable for my needs for my one-night stay. The inn is very... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Emerson Inn by the Sea this October. Friendly staff and the views from the front door are superb Dinner was consistently excellent so we did not search further for an evening meal.
