Croquet made this so fun, the setting is peaceful and serene. Tennis courts and small boats also available to use. The dock is a great place to relax and boat watch. Staff was very helpful and free breakfast was good, coffee especially! We stayed over the 4th of July and it was a welcome calm compared to bustling Bar Harbor.... More

My wife and I along with our daughter and her husband stayed in the cottage nearest the water. Accomodations are simple but adequate, with a bedroom, a loft, a bathroom with shower, living room, dining area, and kitchen. Great view of the water just a few steps away. We didn't hear another soul the entire time there, and it served... More

The wonderful management at the Claremont creates a welcome environment that brings us back, year after year, to this charming historic spot. Rooms are romantic and very comfortable. Location and views are breathtaking. Love the croquet, of course! More

The Claremont has been our East Coast vacation home for the last 17 years. It's a long flight AND a long drive from CA but even when we say it will be our last year, it never is. Many friends have joined us, and have also fallen in love with the charm, the history, the incredible location and the friendly... More

A long drive from Montreal, it was a relief to arrive here. Outstanding location. The bay view from our room and large balcony was a real pleasure. Impeccable room, well equipped. The restaurant, tough lead by a small team, was a great surprise. Although you can dine in Southwest harbour or Bar Harbor, we had all our meals there. All... More

We have stayed here twice and will likely return next summer. This is an 1883 hotel that has been carefully restored and preserved, with an elegant restaurant added. It can be a little precious, what with the croquet courts and tournament, but that affectation is merely charming in this place. The summer staff, aside from managers, is largely Eastern European... We stayed in the main hotel toward the end of the season so it is presumed the following will be corrected next year: room glasses not refreshed daily, pealing paint, dirty behind the bathroom door, dead mosquitos on the window shelve in the dining room, employees walking down the hall at 3am and exiting through the emergency stairwell doors (slam)... The Claremont is all its website promises -- beautiful location in the heart of the Acadia National Park area. We stayed three nights earlier this month in the cabin "Wentwood 3." The cabin is clean, comfortable, spacious enough, and boasts gorgious, unobstructed views of Somes Sound. It has a deck with cafe table and lounge chairs within feet of the... More

This was my first stay at the Claremont. A friend and I stayed for a one week retreat from it all. Overall, we were very pleased with our time there. The grounds and setting of the hotel with water views couldn't have been lovelier. It is definitely a place to "unplug" - no television in our room (one in the... More

The Claremont has been beautifully restored and evokes the feeling of what it would have been like to stay in a 19th century hotel. They have made some modern improvements such as the large dining room with an excellent view of the harbor. The bar/restaurant down at the dock is a great place for lunch. The most amazing thing is... More
