We stayed in the smallest room (I think it's called "studio suite") for one night in September. The room is Room #1 which is closest to Main Street. It is far more spacious than I had expected. There is a sitting area with couch, coffee table, TV, and kitchenette. Kitchenette has sink, microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Not quite... More

We like Northeast Harbor as base to hike and bike Acadia, N.P. and the previous B&B we stayed at has gone out of business, so we tried the Colonel's Suites. We stayed a week this past August. A bit of a mixed overall experience, although on balance, I would say it was fine. I would strongly disagree with a previous... More

The room we had was listed as a junior suite. But the tiny living room was more of a corridor than a room. The bedroom was very small too. The room we stayed started having huge noise, in fact the walls were vibrating in the evening, when their kitchen fan went on. Eventually they turned it off, but certainly it... More

This is a recently built place, and the rooms are furnished with somewhat better than minimal quality hardware and furniture that one finds in the big box stores. That quality is depressing when compared to the real stuff, but it's better than a Motel 6. The mattress was of good quality (new) but the bedding was definitely of the Motel... More

The Colonel's has long been known as the place to go for doughnuts on Mt. Desert Island (their chocolate glazed are to die for, as are their bowtie raised - which is good, because eating more than one puts you at significant risk of a heart attack). Several years ago, the restaurant burned down. When it was rebuilt, they put... More

We really enjoyed our stay. It was much more relaxing than Bar Harbor. The room (#1) and breakfasts were great. Next time we are heading to MDI, we will definitely stay at Colonel's Suites. More

Colonel's Suites made for a truly delightful place to stay for our 6 days near Acadia Nat'l Park. We stayed in the spacious front suite (b.r., sitting area, and kitchenette) which proved to be very clean, quiet, and comfortable -- exactly what we had hoped for! The owner helped us with bike rentals and other concerns. The C.S. is not... More

Stumbled onto this hotel in Expedia, as we were looking for a place close to Acadia, but not in the middle of the Bar Harbor. Upon arriving, we had our doubts. The suites are located on top of the Colonel's Restaurant and Bakery. Not easily identified as lodging. No registration area. Walk into the bakery and they will hand you... More

If you want the New England Charm stay here! We got the suite which faced the street and couldn't have been happier. Our room was really nice and had a partial kitchen which came in really handy since we were far from everything, so bring some supplies. You check in by going to the bakery and getting a key from... This is a great little place to stay but you need to be aware of a few minor issues that may not be issues for you. First, the location is great and the suites are perfectly cleaned. Newly renovated and nice equipped. The two issues that we had were as follows: First, the bed was exceedingly firm. For some, this... More
