My husband and I went to the Pentagoet for our honeymoon in october 2010. We arrived at about 2am, on the tail end of a hurricane but were welcomed by Jack who didnt mind coming to find us after I'd rung him up practically in tears and getting him out of bed. We spent most evenings drinking gin in the... More

A unique experience for the discerning customer providing a journey back in time with its antique furniture and unique decorations, although somewhat pricey, is worth the experience. Personalized and friendly service with lots of attention to detail in a very quiet and serene setting that will leave you with a lasting memory. The hotel's restaurant offered a well chosen selection... More

This place is very serene and the owners very accomodating! There is a fun bar with live music not far, and the Inn is about a two minute walk to the water. The breakfast buffet is also great, coffee is available 24hrs a day, there is a full bar, and a restaurant which is also fabulous, the tuna was a little... More

Well worth a visit. If you like an inn with lots of antiques and quirks then this is the place to be. Rooms are lovely. Good place to stay if you fancy curling up with a good book in the window seat, on the verandah or in the garden. Lots of nice touches like morning coffee on the landing. Hosts... More

I had always wanted to visit Maine. I have read every Stephen King book and I just knew Maine would be as beautiful and breathtaking as I imagined - and it was! My mother and I decided to take a "mother/daughter" trip to the coast of Maine last September. I came across the Pentagoet Inn in one of my random... More

A visit to the Pentagoet Inn transports you back to the late Nineteenth Century, when vacationers arrived at this coastal Maine village by steamship and stayed for weeks, enjoying the beautiful sea vistas, breathing the impossibly clear air, exploring the extensive early colonial history, listening to the sounds of ships and seagulls, and dining each night on seafood brought up... Castine, Maine is a lovely getaway made even more so by the hospitality provided by the Pentagoet Inn. Our third visit there and never a disappointment. The comfort and welcome of the staff makes you feel like you've come home again. For repeat customers, to be welcomed by name is even better in this impersonal world. Jack, the Innkeeper, holds... Pentagoet Inn is located along the Penobscot Bay Coast in a scenic environment right out of a picture book. Accommodations were adequate, very quaint, and comfortable. Breakfasts offered a goodly assortment of baked goods, homemade cereal and fresh fruit. Items from the kitchen also included egg dishes and moist pancakes. Bicycles are there for your enjoyment for a scenic ride... More

We stopped there in late September due to an aborted sailing trip, and took advantage of their drop- in rate. They clearly have spent a lot of time making this somewhat Victorian dwelling into a friendly and welcoming hostelry. The rooms are compellingly old-fashioned and the lock system is antediluvian, But it seems as though Castine is not teeming with... More

Close to a beautiful little harbor, under tall elm trees...a lovely place to see and stay. Castine is a view into traditional small town Maine. The Inn has lovely rooms, great beds, good food and very friendly staff. Don't miss a chance to visit with the fascinating innkeeper, Jack.
