I recently spent two nights in the small (twin bed only) Walnut room at this bed and breakfast, and had a perfectly fine stay. I was most impressed by how thoughtful everything was - from single gum packs and advil packs in the drawers, to an extra toothbrush, to a kitchen stocked with coffee and tea and all cooking instruments... I recently returned from a writers' residency sponsored by the house of Two Urns. Those of us in attendance had submitted a brief application stating what our writing plans were for the residency. After being accepted, we were given a stipend that covered breakfast, lunch, a full week CTA pass, and guest pass to a nearby health facility. We were... More

I am glad you were able to join us for one of the writer residencies of the Chicago Art Retreats and were able to accomplish some of your literary goals. Every winter we set aside a few weeks to host writers or visual artists of all disciplines to stay with us while they write, research or renew their creative souls.... More

After reading the online reviews for the House of Two Urns, I was eager to stay in what appeared to be a charming B&B with great food! However, I just tried to reserve three nights' stay with the owner and I was denied access to her establishment because I travel with a service dog. I am blind, and my German... More

As we have two separate buildings, each with 5 or less guestrooms per building and are owner-occupied we are exempt and are not required to provide ADA compliant rooms. We are sorry that she was so excited about staying with us and was not able to do so. We were unable to accommodate her in a private room that would... More

I really hesitate to write my glowing review of the Two Urns, because it will get too busy to book for my next Chicago stay. The room was cozy, comfortable and quiet. The breakfasts were excellent, the kitchen was supplied with all I needed, if I wanted to cook, the wireless connection was convenient, and the unending supply of hospitality... More

We booked rather late on and split our stay between The Ruby Rooms and the Two Urns. The lady who runs the B&B was very friendly and welcoming and had made a real effort to ensure everything one would need has been accommodated for, and it really is everything the bathroom cabinet was very well stocked. Breakfast was very nice... More

First trip to Chicago and the House of Two Urns got us back for a second visit. The whole neighborhood is so much fun and close to everything. the room was wonderful, plenty of room and all the amenities. Breakfast was across the street in a beautiful historic home. Kapra is the ultimate host. Not showy, not pushy. Good honest... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfasts, and the rooms were satisfactory. Owner showed great willingness to help acquaint us with the neighborhood and the rest of Chicago. More

Comparing to the room rate,I think it was Very Good experience.Below are the cons: -The carpets and furniture are old. -lighting in the second building across the street is gloomy. -The breakfast is not as I though would be comparing to what the website says; in terms of variety and bounty. -Neighborhood is not the best where you can be.... Stayed for 3 nights at house of 2 urns. Really enjoyed everything about the B+B. Kapra & her Husband are great hosts and very knowledgeable not just on Chicago but on surrounding cities and states which helped us a lot as we were moving around. Superb facilities, nice bed, quiet room in the building across the street, and every amenity... More

Glad you had a good visit in our great city! You are right that the communal breakfast table is a very common arrangement at B&Bs in the states. You happened to be here during what I called "International Week" as we had a very wide range of guests from around the world and midwest: Korea, France, Cameroon, Japan, India, Ireland,... More

This was a wonderful place with lots of character and very homey feeling. I still miss the homemade breakfasts. The rooms are fantastic, and there is a livingroom area, outdoor balcony area, kitchen area so you can cook, super cute victorian vintage style. Close to the subway to get to the city as well, and nice restaurants in a hip... More
