We camped for five nights at John Pennekamp and loved it. The sites are big enough that you don't feel squashed, and we appreciated the trees and foliage around each site. We were surprised and happy to find that in addition to water and electric, each site also had a sewer connection. Rare at many state parks. The bathrooms were... More

The snorkeling boat here is a mass-production operation. The crew showed contempt for the snorkelers (maybe because they weren't divers). Even worse, they were quite careless about watching out for the people in the water. There were 34 people who went out to snorkel, but only one member of the crew of three actually observed those in the water. One... More

prepare for lights all night, noisy generators and huge RVs blocking all the breezes in their "campground". the asphalt road collects heat and stinks terribly while the staff drives up and down in golf carts "blowing the rocks off". this park has some great amenities, but tent camping was not any fun at all. This was the worst camping experience i have ever had! We were so excited to be tent camping here for 3 days. But when we arrived we were soon disapointed to learn that our very public camp site was sandwhiched between two loud and stinky RVs and off a freshly blacktoped road. The fumes from the road loomed over us... More

Visited the park and stayed 10 days. Best time was on the dive boat wtih Captain Dan, Rick, Lindnsey, Sue and Drew. They were an awesome crew that made diving at Key Largo fantastic!!!! Will go back next year....not only to stay in the park but to dive with the best dive team ever! The only drawback that I saw.....NO... More

The employees obviously have no motivation. So many other places in Key Largo with staff who are passionate about your experience. Everything you can do in the park you can do elsewhere. I will say the glassbottom boat is better than the other one in Key Largo and that captain seems to be very good at his job. More

John Pennekamp State Park and Campground is located in Key Largo Florida, one of the first Keys (islands) reached by the Overseas Hwy US-1. It is a very clean, well maintained, and affordable park/campground. The small visitor center features informative and educational marine exhibits about the coral reefs just off shore. The gift shop/cafe sells higher priced clothes and souviners,... More

Went for camping for 4 nights. We left before the first night because we we were attacked by noseeums. They bite, burn, itch and welt. They are so small screens don't stop them. The beach was also convered in trash from memorial weekend. So sad to see careless tourists ruin the beauty of the keys like that. Had to pay... More

The location right next to the Coral Reef at Key Largo is amazing. The snorkelling boat trip is a must. It lasts 2.5 hours and you get 1.5 hours in the water. The campground is geared up for RVs, with lovely showers, laundry, store, hookups etc. We felt a little bit crammed in in our little tent, and there were... More
