We have stayed in the Shipwatch Villas several times. A three bedroom ocean view once and twice we've stayed in their 2 bedroom ocean view (a few years ago we stayed in Turtle Dunes, but the last few trips have all been Shipwatch). The three bedroom was "wow". Great furnishings, very updated. Last year we stayed in a two bedroom... More

The Sea Dune complex was old & the unit decor was dated. Brass everywhere! Dirty throw rug in the entrance to welcome you. The bathroom was tiny & it had a shower no tub. The shower had nowhere to rest your foot to shave your legs. The kitchen appliances were all cream colored/dated. Seems to me if you travel to... More

Stayed for one night in a three bedroom ocean view villa with family (2 adults, 4 kids) en route to Orlando from Northeast. Villa located in Beach Walker section. We arrived around 11am on check-in day. Villa was supposed to be ready at 4, was not ready until 4:15, but we spent day at pool and on beach. Pool at... More

We stayed for a week at the Shipwatch Villas #1324. The 2 bdrm.,/2.5 ba condo was nicely appointed and has been recently updated. Appliances looked brand new. There was front-loading washer/dryer for use in the condo itself which was a huge bonus. The pool was heated and the beach was just a short walk across a fairway. Plenty of shells... More

Thank you for your thoughtful review. I am happy you found the resort to be beautiful! The moss draped trees do make you feel like you are in a special place, don't they? You offered several very good suggestions that we will take action on. We will be placing new booklets in each villa that share what activities are available... More

I was deeply disappointed. It was for work and the Ritz was full. We were told that due to renovations, the villa would be better as they had pools and the beach as well. They also told us there would be beach service. There wasn't. Well, the pool was tiny. There were a few lounge chairs around it but no... More

Thank you for your review, we appreicate hearing feedback from our guests. I'm sorry your stay in the villas was not at the level it should have been. Last summer we offered beach service on-call to our villa guests. We also offer room service delivery to our villas and had over 7 restaurants available on property that I hope your... More

Let me start by saying I have stayed at the Omnia hotel there several times and absolutely loved each visit. Currently the hotel is under renovations and not slated to open for a few more weeks so my wife and thought we would give the villas try. Pros: all of the amenities afforded you while staying in the hotel also... More

We stayed here this month for a weekend while my husband was in town during an underway period. This is a lovely resort, impeccably maintained and with a very helpful staff. The villas are all located facing the beach, and in the morning you can walk for miles with only yourself and maybe a few others on the beach. It was the perfect family Christmas vacation.

This is our second visit to this resort in six months. It's beautiful. We stayed on sandcastle this time on the ocean. Last visit we were at the tennis villas. Great resort. We use the gym and brought our dogs so the resort fee is well worth it. Look forward to coming back as soon as we can,

I am very picky when it comes to choosing a place to stay. My brother-in-law chose this one? I couldnt have been happier. We had a 2-bedroom condo at the Tennis Villas. It was HUGE! Very clean and the furnishings were of the highest quality. I would stay here again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Villas of Amelia Island Plantation sprawl across 1,350 beautiful and isolated acres, along Florida's north eastern coastline, just across the St. Marys River in Georgia and adjacent to the historic city of Fernandina. The Villas overlook the azure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. Though private, secluded and protected by a gated entry, the location is very convenient with a short 45 minute drive from downtown Jacksonville, and 29 miles from Jacksonville International Airport, Private and corporate aircraft charters can fly directly to Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, four miles north of the plantation. Each villa is unique and different. Units come in varying sizes and locations, including ocean view, resort view and tennis view single guest rooms. As well as one, two and three bedroom units, ideal for larger parties, and feature fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, spacious living rooms, multiple baths and private bedrooms. Most complexes have at least one pool. Be sure to confirm the villa type, location and amenities available when booking. The villa accommodations are independently owned, but are located within proximity to the Omni Amelia Island Plantation resort. Just minutes from the Amelia Island Plantation lies Fernandina Beach, which is a rare combination of historical wonders and small-town charm. Once a haven for pirates and rum-runners, the picturesque harbor is now one of the most productive shrimping and fishing centers in the South. Along cobblestone walks is an eclectic assortment of galleries, antique shops and quaint eateries worthy of exploration. Throughout your stay, we're confident that you will enjoy all the amenities the plantation has to offer - including the bountiful nature of Florida’s Premier Island.**Please note: Beginning November 2011 through spring 2013 the Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be undergoing a major re-imagination project. During that time the hotel pool and beach club will be closed. All villa pools will be open for villa guests and owners. Beach activities, games and food & beverage will be available on the beach for all resort guests. ... more   less
