Stayed here a month ago for reunion with long-time friends. For the age of the building it was well-kept, clean, though furniture/drapes showed signs of wear. "Private" bathroom involved going out of a locked door down the hall to our own bath, which was an issue in the middle of the night. Breakfast was worst experience of all the Band Bs we have stayed in: cold already-toasted half bagels, limited cold coffee and creamer, canned fruit, nothing chilled. Yes, the inn has a kitchen, we could smell bacon frying earlier in the morning. Host was very sure of himself and couldn't stop talking about his experiences everywhere. Be aware the steps from the street are steep as r steps to 2nd/3rd level rooms. The "free parking" is on street and not secure. Would not stay here for a Trinidad excursion again.

Charming B & B with many original features. New management has kept up the cleanliness of the previous owners. Bathrooms have clawfoot tub/showers. Generous continental breakfast. In room coffee service. Appreciate the no pets policy. Easy to walk to downtown for dinner.

This place is incredible!!!! Truly a step back in time. We had the garden suite on the first floor. It was very nice. You have your own sun room and private patio. They have street parking and a gavel parking lot!!! The couple who run it are very nice and really keep it up. I highly recommend you staying here.

Loved the historic building. Our room was on the main floor with separate (private) bath. Room was toasty for the winter. Nice continental breakfast with assorted coffee and tea choices. Smart tv setup. Lovely social areas. If we are in the area we would stay again.

We are on our way back to SW Oklahoma from Estes Park. We had stayed at another b&b in the Black Mesa area on the way and had planned to return there on the way home as a half way point. However going back to Black Mesa would have been a less than relaxing trip as we discovered it was way back road even gravel road access until we got to 25. As we passed Trinidad on the way to Estes I suggested we find a place there instead as it was far easier for us. And that is how we found this extraordinary inn. The attention to detail is impeccable. True to the era without being over the top. I could very much picture an actual family living here and I didn't feel like I'd stepped into a museum. We had the entire top floor to ourselves. it included the bedroom with an alcove closet, a sitting room, balcony, and huge bathroom with a clawfoot tub. The original wood floors creaked as they should too. Peeking into the kitchen (we were invited to explore common areas) I found the most gorgeous period stove. The dining room light fixture is just beautiful. And the library has obviously had many hours spent to find the literature and pamphlets pertinent to the area. We found Steve charming and honestly appreciated his quick tour before leaving us to ourselves. Back at work tomorrow so this little plan B stay was absolutely perfect for us.

My boyfriend and I went for a weekend getaway. The house is located very close to downtown. We stayed in the Amati Suite on the second floor. The room has a bedroom and a living room, and the bathroom is located outside of the room but it is private. The couch and the bed were both very comfortable. The view of the mountains and the Trinidad sign are beautiful. The balcony is very cozy. We enjoyed the snacks because we aren’t very big breakfast eaters anyway. We will definitely stay again, the hosts were very nice and personable. The home itself is very pretty, it has a living room, dining room, and a library! I love the dark wood.

Do not stay anywhere else if your in the Trinidad area! This is the most unique and beautiful experience. Every room is unique and beautifully decorated from the Victorian era. As a guest you get access to dining room, parlor, library and more. Even thought the house was built in the early 1900s, it was clean, neat and had all the modern necessities you need without looking modern at all! We felt like royalty! Easy walking access to the cutest downtown area with plenty of cute shops and restaurants. This would be the perfect place to rent out for a mystery dinner party!

Tarabino Inn was a great overnight for us. We normally get two rooms because we have teenagers that are opposite sex, but the Grand Suite met our needs perfectly. We were able to text the owners to let them know we would be arriving very late (after midnight). They were kind enough to bring in a rollaway cot that our daughter slept comfortably on and our son took the sleeper sofa. They had everything made up on arrival so we could go right to sleep. The king bed was very comfortable and the en suite bathroom spacious. Very nice attention to detail. We would definitely stay here again when we drive from Austin to Colorado to ski or spend time in the summer.

My family and I recently spent a night at the Tarabino Inn. The house itself is beautiful, and the attention to detail is wonderful! The rooms are clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed sipping wine on the front porch, watching the thunderstorm roll in. Much as we enjoyed the house, the owner who interacted with us could not have been less interested in providing a warm welcome, or a fond farewell. I work in the hospitality industry, and I am baffled as to why this woman is running a B and B. She did not invite or participate in conversation when we showed interest in her home, how long she has owned it, or details on a local artist whose work she displays in the house. She did not express any curiosity as to what brought us to town, she did not provide us with any dining or activity suggestions, and she seemed annoyed when the three of us wanted to pay for our rooms separately. It is sad to us that what we learned about the inn came from reading its history on our own, rather than hearing about it from the owner. People stay in bed and breakfasts rather than in hotels in order to interact with the owners, and learn about their home and town from a local perspective. We might as well have stayed at a motel down the street. We were disappointed, and we will not return.

Response from Tarabino, Owner at Tarabino Inn
Responded 18 Aug 2019
Thanks for the heads up. It is unfortunate you got the impression you did about Teresa; not all guests share your views. We are often busy, we have no employees, I (Kevin) also have a full time job, and there are times when we are, as a previous review stated, "businesslike and efficient" by necessity. For those considering a stay, I would like to add that even if we had a self check-in system with no hosts on the premises, there is no comparison between a stay at Tarabino Inn and any "motel down the street," and the cost for our suites is most often comparable to or less than base price at the local La Quinta or Holiday Inn.

The Tarabino Inn is a large Victorian home in a neighborhood of lovely homes within a short walk of Trinidad's main street. We had a LARGE suite. The bathroom would have filled half of my condo. It was comfortable with modern amenities of Cable TV and wi-fi. Our breakfast was very tasty. Our hostess was businesslike and efficient. There was afternoon tea with cookies. The only caveat is that access to the front door and to the bedroom suites requires climbing stairs. We really enjoyed sipping wine ( our wine, their glasses) on the front porch and enjoying a lovely spring evening.

Response from Tarabino, Owner at Tarabino Inn
Responded 18 Aug 2019
Thanks for the positive review, and the reminder to potential guests that we have many stairs. Tarabino Inn is an historic home, we are exempt from ADA requirements, and there is no elevator. It is a full flight of stairs from the street to the front door, another flight to access the Walnut and Chestnut suites, and a third flight to access the Gable rooms.
