Great Beach Access. Quiet Area. Nice walk to downtown area for food and shopping. Staff very helpful. Great for dogs. Enjoyed the bar with great ocean view. Only "negative' is the train comes by back of building in early morning hours was only draw back.

I attended a Rotary Conference at this Hotel. The food is overpriced. The main dinner of steak and fish was overcooked and not to anybody's standard. The staff was great and the rooms were more than adequate. The whole hotel is starting to show its age.

I would not stay here again unless the complete facility is remodeled. The service is below average, the facility is way below expectations. The food is average and the servers are not attentive. The workout facility is one of the worst I have ever visited and the equipment is less than what is needed for a good workout.

I recently stayed at the luxurious Fess Parker and found that it exceeded my wildest expectations. To start, the complementary cookies given upon check-in are to die for(literally if you're allergic to nuts, though), and the valet went above and beyond the call of duty. The grand lobby and the mere size of the property MAKE you think you're getting your money's worth at first glance - then it's betrayed once you check in, and further when you enter the room. Nice hotel but not as nice as the price. When we went to dinner at the hotel we had to take our car because we were soo far away from the lobby/restaurant. My wife didn't want to walk that far at night in her high heels.

The Fess Parker has the best oceanside location in Santa Barbara, and that's reason enough to stay here, although the guest rooms and furnishings are showing their age and apparently a renovation is scheduled this year. The resort has a great physical site, just across the street from the beach, with sprawling grounds, a pool, tennis courts, etc. The interiors are way past due for refurbishing. The staff are friendly and great. I love the old photos of Fess Parker and the history behind the hotel. The location is perfect for everything. We did not use the pool as it was always crowded. We did get massages from the spa and they were great.
