A piece of France in Santa Barbara. The innkeeper, Dominique, is friendly and helpful and a darned good cook. If you like sleek and modern, this place is not for you. If you like country and a homey feeling and a home cooked breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoon and an evening snack, this is a great place. The... More

This was our third visit to The Secret Garden Inn. It is charming - small, private cottages with a hot tub, and for this visit we splurged on The Nightingale room, which has a fireplace and small sitting room. So quiet, private, and lovely! Breakfast is always excellent -- quiche, fruit salad, homemade berry scones and persimmon bread (from the... More

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I have stayed in a few other SB B&B's that are nice, but very different from the Secret Garden, I have found this place to be the best. I love the location, the grounds, the cozy little rooms, the food, and of course...the hot tubs. When the trees & flowers are in bloom there are lots... More

will certainly return to this charming b and b.......the room was bright and cheery and very quite.........set in a european type garden. what really made it special is the owner dominique. not only is she a superb cook, but a knowledgeable and gracious hostess with a beautiful french accent. a good location to walk to state street during the day,... Like many B & B's, The Secret Garden is fun but quirky. The atmosphere, as well as the owner, is French. We had a 2 (small) room "suite" in a cottage situated on grounds that are probably lovelier in spring, summer, or fall. Our queen bed was comfortable, but the daybed that our 8-year-old used was very small. I don't... More

Excellent service and hospitality. Nice French Vintage with good taste of cheese and wine. Surround by big tree and nice ambient for relaxing. I stay in the house outside the main house so it's quite not so much noise even close to the parking lot

We booked 3 nights and stayed only 2 (negotiated 1/2 off for unused night). Bed was horrible, no A/C (it was hot), only floor fans. Poor finishes not much better than a motel. Inadequate bathroom facility. Hot Tub was full of foam. The residential area that it's in was run down and looked like questionable areas of LA. During the... More

The grounds are very pretty and the location is up a few blocks from State Street in a residential area. Offers a full library of local tourism and dining options. The breakfast was good ... and the evening wine and snacks, fine. It is decorated simply with average quality, grandma-esque furnishings. Many hand painted pieces created by the French owner... More

Well, according to some previous reviewers---THIS INN IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. I only ended up staying in a B&B near the kitchen once & my experience was totally opposite I awoke to wonderful aromas of cooking breakfasts (and, yes, some noise). It is the best wake-up I have ever had. Reminded me of when I was a child & Saturday... More

I chose this place for our first visit to Santa Barbara based on TA reviews and pictures. I goofed. We booked two nights but after the worst nights' sleep ever had to check out after the first night. The bed was like sleeping on a board. There was a sitting area in the cottage but unfortunately nothing comfortable to sit... More
