Ear plugs are not enough to squelch the street noise if you are in the front of the hotel. It's more action than we thought possible for Monterey, especially mid week. Some good restaurants nearby. If you want that old Victorian feel and tight on budget, this is the place. Very comfortable room and the bed was the best every for my back pain. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because the walls and floors are not very sound proof. Be prepared to hear noise at all hours of the day.... More

The room was very clean, the continental breakfast was plentiful. The staff was always very pleasant and very helpful with directions and any info needed. The history of the hotel very interesting. The hotel is centrally located and very convenient to walk the "path of history", or the coastal trail.

Downtown monterey. Very centrally located. Nice and close to everything downtown. We used the valet and never even got our vehicle out in the 3 days we were here.
