What an awesome place! A hidden treasure! We were actually looking for another campground when we found this one ... GLAD WE DID! This is a privately owned campground that is NOT commercial! Looks more like a national or state campground! Full to no hook-ups on a river! Peaceful and quiet! A little on the pricey side ... They have... More

We knew we would be arriving late on Friday night, so althought the office was closed, the lights were on and door was unlocked on our caboose as was arranged when making the reservation. The front desk was very helpful and gave good directions so it was easy to find. The rooms aren't luxurious, but were very clean and functional.... More

We found the Railroad Park resort online and booked a two night stay thinking it would be fun for the kids. The rooms were comfortable, but outdated. After 20 minutes the train cars were no longer novel. The resort staff seemed to almost have given up for the winter. Several times I had stunted conversations with staff about stay needs... More

Railroad Park Resort is about as unusual a place to stay as you are likely to find! All of the accommodation is in remodeled rail cars...mostly cabooses. Great for kids, or, in our case, "over-the-hill kids". Ever seen a sunrise on Castle Crags (great, tall mountains of rock) from the comfort of the cupola of a caboose? What a great... More

We took off from Sacramento heading for Mount Shasta, but when we happened upon the Railroad Park Resort we were struck by the beauty of the train cars surrounded by about four feet of pristine snow, and we decided to stay the night. It was a fantastic decision on our part. One of the most romantic places ever. The staff... More

Been meaning to stay here since I found the place DECADES ago, but never had the right opportunity or time. This time we stopped on the way up from San Diego to Seattle and asked to check out a room. It had a queen with side-by-side singles on each side of the car -- perfect for our family of four.... More

We have been wanting to stay at this unique motel since my son was about 4.....well ten years later and we finally made it. We picked a rainy November weekend. Spent the time in our cozy caboose playing games, reading books, taking in Ted Fay's Fly shop, and discovering some great eats in Dunsmuir. Burger Barn has a great pulled... More

The motel is very unique. The wood interior and remodel is just beautiful. The pool area was clean and seemed to be taken care of well. We found it easily and the caretakers were quite friendly. I wish we knew a bit more about the place before going however. The signs all said there was dining at the lodge, there... More

For anyone who has enjoyed railroads in any form, this is a mandatory stop. Where else can you spend the night a real (albeit comfortably redecorated) caboose? The location with a striking view of nearby Castle Crags is an added benefit. Courteous and informative staff added to our pleasure. Our caboose was clean, quiet, and comfortable with a very attractive... More

This is a unique motel. I am a repeat visitor. There are about 30 cabooses on the property that are your motel rooms, plus a few 1 br units. You must stay in a caboose. My caboose from the Southern Pacific Railroad was very clean and well decorated with real knotty pine paneling. You can climb up into the cupola... More
