The front desk was friendly and very accomodating. The room was clean and enviting. We were looking for a place to stay for 6 months with a dog and they were very understanding about us leaving a cargo trailer in the parking lot while we looked for a new home. Extended our stay without complication! Would stay here again!!!!!

We stayed in an upgrade which meant separate bedroom and livingroom with a logfire. This was a peaceful backwater compared to Carmel town and beach (1/2 hour away). Although beautiful, the town was rather over-civilised (very clean, smart, attractive arty shops on the expensive side with parking restrictions that were an ongoing headache. The beach area was superb but with... More

As other reviews have said, this lodging is fairly deep in the valley at least 30 minutes from Carmel and the beaches. So if you are looking for Carmel only, don`t stay this deep in the valley. Carmel Valley is beautiful and actually is a destination location in itself . And of course a 30 minute(or so) drive into Carmel... More

The Lodge is gussied up motel. Do not take that as a knock. The grounds are beautiful, the pool area delightful. The room was updated and immaculate, with a nice kitchen area. And the weeknight price was very reasonable. One problem was the connecting door to the other half of what essentially is a one level duplex. The folks on... More

We just loved our stay at the Carmel Valley Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer - maybe next time this way. Charming location with pool, sauna, hot tub & a GREAT breakfast (included) in the morning. Now we 're off for a hike and some wine tasting in the village...

We live in Monterey and love comming to the sun in the valley. We have stayed at many of the high end places in the valley and we have found Carmel Valley Lodge to be th best value in the area! We only have stayed in the one bedroom "cottages" which have a wood burning fire place and a fun... More

We stayed here for one night at a special rate ($99) obtained through the Hotel Tonight app. The grounds are nice in a rustic way -- it feels sort of like a lodge in a national park setting. Our room was clean but a bit dated, and on par with above-average quality roadside motels we've stayed at, with little additional... More

We have stayed at the Carmel Valley Lodge twice now and this recent stay over New Years was even better than the first. The accommodating, friendly service stood out. We had a very clean, nicely-decorated room with a cozy fireplace. With unlimited firewood and a packet of s'mores provided, we could not have asked for more. A hot tub and... More

Not surprisingly, the hotels actually in Carmel and Monteray were on the pricey side, so looking further out of the immediate area, we stumbled on this little gem! The lodge is about a 10 minute drive from Carmel and a 2 minute walk from Carmel valley village, where there are several good restaurants for evening meals. Hotel receptionist was most... More

For the price ($179 on weekends), I would expect fuller towels, fewer bathroom and sink stains, and window shades that work. There's a difference between rustic and old, and this place is old and in need of a refurbishment. On the positive side, WiFi coverage is much improved over last year.
