I had the exciting chance to visit this lodge years ago. It is an exotic spot to visit. The flight down viewing the Himalayas, the lodge rooms were very comfortable, the evening chat in the bar before dinner and dinner great, of course Gauri the manager couldnt be more of a perfect fit for the job. My favorite memory was... More

This is a long overdue review but I continue to reminisce about the amazing time we had at the Karnali Lodge just about every day! After doing some trekking in the Himalayas, our group of four spent four amazing nights at Karnali Lodge in March 2011. All four of us loved every minute. We did a number of safaris on... More

This is a great resort, with professional staff, excellent customer service, good food and a very real chance to see tigers (we saw one, and most other people I know who have been, have also had a sighting). However, you do have to remember that it's a lodge, not a hotel - just don't go expecting to find a Hyatt... More

Thank you for such a complete review and great positive reporting of Karnali Jungle Lodge in Bardia National Park. Remote yes, but acessible too. This is a very valid point and I am pleased you have mentioned it. The lodge is simple but it is utterly in keeping with the area and the amazing wildlife in one of Nepal's most... More

The thrills from getting very close to tigers, wild elephant, rhino, crocodile and other game on elephant back and on foot make Karmali Lodge one of the the best wild life adventure holiday destinations anywhere in the world. In four days, we saw at very close range four tigers, and rhinos and numerous wild elephant, being guided all the time... More

Having been working in Nepal for a few weeks, when my wife joined me for some travel, we went on the recommendation of several friends for four days at Karnali Jungle Lodge - and our friends were right! The Tented Camp was closed at the time, but the Lodge location, on the very border of the park, is ideal, and... More

Thank you so much for your great review and kind words. Karnali Lodge is a wondrful haven in Nepal's relatively unexplored "wild west". I hope you will return and re-visit Karnali or try some of our other lodges and camps in Chitwan and Pokhara. With best wishes, Marcus Cotton Chief Executive More

Staying here has been a goal for two decades and we were totally disappointed in the run down conditions of the rooms (Shower in room above us flooded our room- all we got was someone to mop it up but no apologies. The dining room was dark and uninviting . Wewere put on an elephant for a safari that was... More

I am sorry you found Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge below your expectations - and I am happy that the Tented Camp met them. I am investigating the issues surrounding your elephant safari and will take necessary action. I have to say I find it somewhat surpirsing that two regular TripAdvisor members publish very belated reviews - one on 8th January... More

We have just come back from an incredible 2 week holiday in Nepal organized extremely well by Tiger Mountain which involved a 6 day trek and staying at Karnali Jungle lodge in Bardia National Park. I have just read with horror the last review written, and I can only say that anybody who travels to Nepal and comes back feeling... More

Thank you for your detailed and perceptive review - I am only sorry I did not see it sooner. To be fair to the earlier reviewer, they were visiting in very adverse weather and it was not Karnali Lodge at its best - however, this is not to gainsay your kind and positive points. Above all the staff are amazingly... More

My friend and I recently spent two nights at this Lodge. Whilst the staff were very pleasant, the good and the common parts fine, the room we were allocated was disgusting. The beds were rock hard (and I mean ROCK hard; there was no give whatever in the 'mattresses'; the sheets were damp; the one, barely functioning electric point was... More

I have no experience of safari lodges and this was much more basic than I anticipated. The lighting is by very dim electric light until about 10pm then just a kerosene lamp in the bathroom.Torches supplied and essential.Quite a lot of wildlife inside the rooms!!Everything felt damp-bedding etc,but I suppose that's to be expected in the jungle. The staff could not have... We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is combined with an elephant safari and is eco-friendly with little electricity and what there is comes from solar sources along with the hot water available in the afternoons. The lodges (2) are of wooden and reed construction but surprisingly quiet between the rooms. Basic and functional. The restaurant is... More
