Reasonable price especially among all the plush new hotels around. Decoration is a touch on the old side as this is one of the oldest grand hotels in the city. Huge entrance foyer and at the far end is the reception. We were welcomed well and, after a little trouble understanding each other (their English was average at best) we were taken to our room. I stayed in the hotel for 3 days in 2 different rooms. In both rooms, it was very clean. However, the 1st room had spoilt air-conditioning and shower facilities. I was then switched to another room. The aircon was working in this room. However, the shower head was not very good as the water came pouring out like a tap!

Stayed 5 nights then later a further 3 nights. Found the staff were eager to help. Enough English to aid my inquiries. Could not fault the service. good value, central location, five star hotel, easy to reach from laudon bus station by bus number 6, helpfull staff, great wintergarden for breakfast. breakfast is more chinese style , so for western people not so good. only 1 breakfast included. i paid 250 rmb for a queen size bedroom

This hotel is showing its age. The carpet in my room was stained and the bed hard, even by Chinese standards.
