This hotel is probably the best hotel in Musanze. It's clean, the water is hot and the staff is very very nice. I was doing volunteer work in the dry season and appreciate having a balcony to dry my dusty clothes on. Internet is spotty.

I give this hotel 4 stars, because of the flexibility. Our gorilla trek went longer than expected and the hotel didn't charge us for a late check out of more than 5 hours. Huge surprise! The hotel is clean. Everything works. Better than other hotels in the price range. The food is ok, but slow. Look for a room in... More

Virunga Hotel is centrally located in Musanze town. The hotel is modern, with hot water and clean rooms. The food at the restaurant was nice, but a little pricey compared to other places in town. There's not much to do in Musanze itself, I stayed here two days as a stopover, but in hindsight, one night was probably enough for... More

We were greeted warmly by Olivier who I had contact with by email, and what a lovely staff member he was!......As we were travelling independently to see the Gorillas we needed to have a driver take us to the park then again to the start of the trek. Not only did Olivier organise it , he went with us!!! How... More

Gorilla trekking is an amazing but expensive business, and some of you may wish to avoid the added cost of forking-out for an expensive lodge up in the hills. Virunga Hotel will suite the budget conscious who don't want to compromise on cleanliness or location. We stayed in the suite which comprised of a double bedroom, sitting room, small kitchen... More

I lined up a permit to trek for gorillas on my own and settled on the Virunga Hotel for my 2-night stay April 18-19. Overall I was happy with my visit while at the hotel (post-stay is different). Rooms are relatively basic and clean and since I was one of a few patrons there wasn't much noise. Good location being... More

As most of the lodges quote in US dollars and we were traveling from South Africa we thought the prices were extremely high and after looking at other favourable reviews of Virunga Hotel on Tripadvisor we decided to do our trip to see the gorillas independently and organized our own permits and accommodation. The hotel was clean and comfortable (although... More

We stayed here for two nights for a gorilla treck and found it to be perfect, just what we needed. A nice bright and spacious room with small balcony and comfortable bed. breakfast was basic but just what we needed, fruit, juice, eggs, toast and jams/spreads. The location is also great for the town area as its just a two... More

We stayed in the suite for two nights. The room was extremely spacious, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is probably not so used to catering for international guests (there were lots of local guests) but otherwise we cannot complain. The food was good but took a while to be prepared - room service is probably a better option.

Stayed three nights after travelling up from Kigali on the local bus and being pleasantly surprised to be dropped right at the doorstep. Our room was good but faced a busy street so morning noise was unavoidable. Being middle-aged and travelling as a couple, we were not inclined to wander much at night so made good use of the passable... More
