As I have always dreamt of staying at a lighthouse I was very excited about my trip to Rua Reidh, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. After the scenic and sometimes stressful drive along the single track road we were greeted by our fantastic hosts Tracy, Roger and Stompy The Dog. Our room was comfortable and clean with fantastic views of... More

Being in our 60's and from South Wales a hostel is for youngsters (YHA) or for the disadvantaged (homeless, drugs etc). Not so in the wilds of Scotland. If Rua Reidh had advertised as a B & B or small hotel I would have given it a reasonable review but as a hostel with such low prices it was brilliant.... More

Well ... we dont pretend to be anything other than a hostel, but we do want our guests to feel relaxed and at home, and to enjoy the location and wildlife so it sounds like we ticked the boxes on this occasion! Thanks for staying with us and taking the trouble to post your review, we look forward to seeing... More

Alas, we only stayed two nights - wish we could have stayed longer - really cosy inside - beautiful stretch of coastline to walk along - nearest neighbours 3 miles away - otters, whales, sea eagles. The hosts were very welcoming, but that's to be expected from a couple who have climbed most of the Munros.

Thanks for your kind words! We enjoyed meeting you and sorry we couldn't organise slightly less rain - but as a fellow Munro-bagger you're used to Scotland's weather! Hope to see you again at some point. Best wishes, Tracy & Roger More

We stayed here for 7 nights in the self-catering accommodation. Lovely hosts.. Tracy and Roger made us very welcome. there personal touches added the sparkle to our holiday. Amazing landscape - blissfully barren peaty moorland and rocky coves.. - there's an outstanding beech 40 minutes walk from the light house - where we saw otters playing in the waves.. and... More

Glad you enjoyed your stay - sorry we couldn't oblige with whales and Northern Lights on this occasion! (Sorry to make you jealous, but we saw a pod of Orcas from the lighthouse a few days ago ...). Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Tracy & Roger More

I stayed here for 3 nights and used it as a base for touring the area. It is a half hour drive from Gairloch and single track roads, with the last few miles being particularly interesting. But it is worth it for the views, and when you see the Lighthouse peeking over the hill, winking at you if you arrive... More

A geat place to unwind. You slow down as you go into first gear for the short hill at the start of the lighthouse road. Log fires should the weather change. Sunsets to die for. Great home cooked food (thanks Fran).

We thought the place and location was so good we decided to book the whole place for three days on a self-catering basis for our family in the summer of 2010. Fran and Chris were great hosts. We got married whilst we were there. Don't expect a hotel as it isn't one. Do expect a great hostel (Please note we've... More

The drive to the light house was an 'exciting' one so try your best to be there before it gets dark. But as we approached the light house we knew that it was all worth it! We got upgraded to a family room as the hostel beds were full with an ensuite without any extra charges! How lucky! Nice, clean... More

The lighthouse is a get away down a track in the middle of heather moors beside a rocky coastline. We paid £19 p.p per night for a lovely twin room very well decorated.Outstanding value for the price. We shared a bathroom but this was not a problem and found it to be spotless. Needless to say the views from the... More
