As a child visiting aged relatives in Dovercourt 50 years ago, I’d look up at the imposing facade of The Cliff Hotel, dreaming that one day I might stay there. My family enjoyed modest circumstances, and staying at The Cliff seemed as out of reach to us as staying at the Savoy in London or The Grand in Brighton. Now... More

Just what we were looking for. A reasonably priced hotel with a late bar to serve a cool beer after missing the ferry. The room was okay, especially for the price. I left my phone charger which they were kind enough to send home to me.

Visited here on business and found it to be very nice. This hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the town and has some lovely features. Really amazed that premier inn is rated better than this.. Not sure what people expect these days. This hotel is clean . Good Food and friendly. Good views to the Port near by... More

Stayed for 3 nights and had a large room with sea view, breakfasts freshly cooked and excellent. Lunch and dinner good value and quality. Bar prices reasonable. Staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little tired but the position is excellent and reasonably priced rooms. I would certainly stay there again. There is a very large carpark and also... More

We had read a few reports, so I guess we were not expecting the 'Ritz'! In fairness we only ate here as part of a wedding reception. It is a typical 'seaside hotel, on the sea front with views. Parking was a problem, certainly the early evening that we arrived. The hotel has that old fashioned dated feel to it,... More

We have stayed at the Cliff Hotel for a few years, once a year when in the area, and it has gradually gone down hill. It is not always clean, the rooms are now very much in need of an update and the beds are very uncomfortable. The whole thing looks seedy and tired, and it is quite expensive for... More

My husband Adrian and i had another lovely stay at the Cliff Hotel at Harwich. We have stayed there for the last few years and love it when we return there. The staff are very friendly and helpful there and our room was lovely. It was nice and clean and had a lovely lacy four poster bed. From our bay... More

I have stayed in the Harwich area for a number of years but never stayed at The Cliff before. I also read the reviews and the place sounded great. However our stay did not meet our expectations. We paid £60 for a Suite, with a sea view from the lounge area. This was one of the positives of our trip. Other than... More
