When planning a visit to the Perigord we found this hotel on Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. It was outside a quaint little village and well located within the region. Absolutely peaceful and quiet. The room was well decorated, large, clean and VERY comfortable. Anita was a wonderful hostess; allowing us to practice our French. Chris gave us... More

If you are looking for a central location for visiting the region that is typical of country life, this is the spot. We spent 6 idyllic days with demi-pension toward the end of June. Our eyes, ears and hearts are full of pleasant memories. The hotel is comfortable and well-appointed for a country inn. Breakfast and dinner on the cliff... More

We spent one night here in May. Staff is very accomodating. Setting is rural, very tranquil with an amazing view of the Vezere River. We ate in the large garden, overlooking the river and valley. Our meal was excellent and very reasonably priced. Numerous caves and aubris with ancient paintings and carvings are nearby. We had requested a room with... More

A three night stay was not long enough at this lovely old auberge. Stunning views from the garden overlooking the river Vezere and, although the late May/early June evenings were rather cool, we were able to take dinner outside whilst watching the peregrines and kites flying off the cliffs nearby. Owners were charming and helpful and food better than the... More

We stayed two nights at this wonderful auberge. The owners were kind and helpful. The restaurant was not open on the Sunday night, but on Monday we had a delicious meal of soupe de campagne and duck which was cooked to perfection. The room looked out over the courtyard. It was all so peaceful. There was a lovely garden, with... More

We stayed at the Auberge de Castel Merle for a week and were very, very pleased with our choice of hotel. The location was central for kayaking, long scenic walks, sightseeing. Do visit the picturesque village of St Lyon and the centuries old church built by the Templers in Sergeac village. Also short drive to Sarlat and the Dordogne Valley.... More

A perfect location for exploring the Perigord Noir. Set on an outcrop overlooking the Vezere River this small hotel was just lovely. The views from the terrace were beautiful, the room was simple, comfortable and had a nice shower room. We were well looked after by Christopher and Anita and their staff and we ate very well on half board.... More
