As you get closer to El Chalten the vista just gets better and better. You can see the glaciers and peaks and can't stop taking photos. Be sure to stop at Hotel de Campo La Leona to see the sign with all the mileage markers to major cities. Plus you can get a bite to eat or drink.
Over the years I have visited the wonderful Leona many times. Some years ago I even worked there to pay for my stay. The owners of the property are the Saldia Westerlund family who have a fascinating history at La Leona. Anita Saldia Westerlund brought the property to life in 1995 and it remains her property to this day.
