Staying in this small (three guest rooms only) but comfortable bed and breakfast feels more like paying a visit to a family in their home - which you effectively are - rather than staying at your more conventional holiday B&B. I would definitely recommend everybody who visits Cape Town to stay a night in a township or at the very least visit one. Kopanong is safe, welcoming and a truly enlightening experience. The dusk walking tour or Khaylesha was a particular highlight of ours with the residents being full of smiles and extremely welcoming. More

I got Thope Lekau who runs the Kopanong B&B to give me a tour round the townships, followed by an excellent lunch at her B&B. I don't think you would normally expect to stay in the part of Cape Town that people were forced into in the 80s and 90s, but it's fascinating and gives you a much better appreciation... More
