I wobbled before choosing this place: was it here or Cape Grace? Don't know of course about the latter but I thought the 'Pink Lady' was a gas. Super comfortable room (didn't get mountain view but so what?), great pool, excellent service everywhere, high tea with cucumber sandwiches (!), film wallies to watch all over the place and laugh about,... A trulygreathotel visit spoiled by equipment failures in our room. General manager and chiel concierge showed great concern and ameliorated situation. Still lovethehotel but saddenedbytheexperience because our memories put it on a pedestal. Still recommend but hope management takes dramatic action to ensure roomsareperfectbeforeguestmoves in. The site and service make the hotel one of the finest in the world. I... More

It is almost a year ago now since we stayed at the Mount Nelson, I still think about this place often! We went to Cape Town for a wedding in March 2011 and decided to stay here for the last two nights of our trip as the wedding was also here. My only regret is that we did not stay... More

Its when you stay for extended periods of time in hotels that you realize that service and staff are as important as the amenities and the rooms. The Mount Nelson lives up to your expectations. Yes it is a little old world/colonial but the mix of guests livens up the atmosphere and the bar is always a good distraction. I... More

My wife and I stayed at the Mount Nelson for a week in December. The staff were fantastic before the trip, booking restaurants, etc.. A Driver picked us up at the airport, and our room was available as soon as we got there. The level of service was outstanding during our whole stay, our favourite being the drinks and snacks... I have stayed here many times for both business and leisure. Thre old-world charm that harks back to a bygone era has become increasingly difficult to encounter no matter where in the world you find yourself. Properly trained staff, excellent cuisine and spectacular afternoon teas are a given. The rooms and suites are typically large, usually with extremely generous bathrooms.... More

This hotel is more than a place to stay when in Cape Town - it is actually a destination in itself, one that's well worth a lengthy journey. I'm fully with Winston Churchill, who liked to relax here after the sea voyage. Things I loved: - the tranquil spa with its secluded dipping pool and heavenly jet-stream shower - the... More

I stayed at The Mount Nelson hotel for business for three weeks in November. It’s a very nice old colonial hotel in the centre of Cape Town. It is well maintained, and the staff attentive and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and it’s a small oasis in the centre of a city. To get out, the hotel runs a courtesy... More

Mount Nelson Hotel arranged a tour with Darrel Lee who took us to the Cape of Good Hope and through the vineyards outside of Cape Town. Darrel was fantastic. His personal experiences through South Africa's growth and changes were shared only as we requested more knowledge and a better understanding. We were thoroughly entertained during our tour and would highly... More

What a joy it was to re-visit the Nellie, as this hotel is affectionately called by locals. Instead of a concrete high-rise building in an urban setting, this city hotel is situated in an oasis of palm trees and beautifully landscaped gardens. When stepping into the marble floor foyer, I mowed into a world of elegance and luxury. The highly... More
