This place was a real pleasant surprise! Blyde River Wilderness Lodge and Blyde River Canyon Lodge are sister establishments, owned by Australians (but seemingly very much in partnership with local South Africans)! The place was absolutely stunning - beautiful big trees along the river with rondevals sprinkled across the grounds. Each of the rondevals are spacious with bedding for many... More

You have to go by a long dirt track, but it is absolutely worth it! Passing the track we have seen zebra and giraffes, great! The lodge is great: very beautiful situated along the river - there should be hippo's in it but we have not seen (or heard) them! We booked the Owl house - a rondavel with two... More

You feel like in your home. The kindness of the staff is incredible. The garden is luxury. The pools are amazing. The meal is really good, without sophistication. Located negar the blyde river, we can hear the music of the water and the birds. No words can describe such Lodge!

We stayed here for one night as we passed through the Blyde River and had a lovely nights stay. We were woken in the morning at 7am by the sound of the hippos over the river which was an amazing experience to say the least! The food was lovely and they had a good alternative for me as I am... More

If you value peace - excluding the noise of birds, animals and the blyde river!! - then this lodge should be on your itinerary. Tucked away in the bush down an 8-10km dirt track the lodge offers seclusion in delightful reserve grounds. Accomodation is good and varied with suites, rooms and self-catering cottages and the lodge manageress Cynthia and staff... More

We stayed for 2 nights in February 2013. Cynthia, the lodge manager, is a wonderful hostess & went out of her way to please our every need. Delicious breakfasts & dinners by request on the deck overlooking the river were simply splendid. The Luxury Queen suite was very comfortable and clean & was perfect to get away from the hustle... We arrived at BRWL for a 2 night stay after a week self driving through Kruger. In the reserve grounds driving to the lodge we encounterd 2 girafe and a few zebra. On arrival, at the lodge, we were given a nice cold cocktail and warm welcome from Jenna and Cynthia and of course not forgetting Oscar and the other... More

This turned out being our best accommodation we had this year in our summer holidays in South Africa. We've been to many places around the country and rated afterwards our choices. All of us ended up to the conclusion that this lodge can be our best. Don't let the long gravel road fool you while driving to the lodge the... More

The location is amazing, on the blyde river shores with a very nice garden and a wonderful game lodge. Service is very warm and efficient. We had a very nice dinner at a reasonable price. Rooms are big and very well decorated... Few more details could make the difference (no hairdryer, no internet connection, no complimentary water). The only real... More

We spent 1 night at Blyde River Wilderness Lodge recently and what a perfect venue surrounded by the lovely Drakensberg mountains. A 50 minute drive to the Kruger National Park.
