Our guide, Kyle, was born to do this job. It is totally his "passion." If only everyone could love his/her job as much. Our cabin was much more modern than we had anticipated. The food was of high quality and served as well as at any fine restaurant. The individuality of this experience led to camaraderie among the guests and... More

This was our first experience of safari holidays and it was very enjoyable. We were really well looked after, served excellent food. We had the opportunity to see so many different animals and birds expertly described by a very knowledgable and passionate ranger for whom nothing was too much trouble. We also were taken on a river cruise on Bushman's... More

We stayed in Woodbury lodge for four nights in April and had the most fantastic time thanks to the staff and the perfect location. The lodge itself is very well kept and the staff have high standards and this is reflected throughout the whole park. The food was plentiful and tasty. We must give special mention to our guide Kyle.... More

Our experience started by encountering an elephant (Norman) alongside the driveway into the Lodge. We were welcomed and settled into our room (Elephant, ironically) just in time to join our first Game Drive. Our Ranger was (DJ) James who was brilliant. Over the next three days we saw all the creatures on the Reserve - it's a long list. James... More

Amakhala Woodbury Lodge is absolutely first class. What a game park is all about is the animals and without doubt what they have here is stunning. However you do have to be able to find them to admire them and again WL scores a full 5, their rangers are passionate about their jobs and it really shows. We had Justin... More

We had no previous experience of game parks, so didn't really know what to expect. Also Amakhala is smaller than neighbouring game parks which raised a doubt in our minds. However from the moment that we stepped out of our car the welcome from all the staff was terrific. The accomodation was very comfortable, with lovely views across the park.... More

A first time experience of a game drive location. The half a dozen thatched cottages are set into the side of one of the hill areas surrounding the flat expanse of the reserve. Two game drives a day with plentiful food and drink all included. We had James and Justin as our guides, both taking every effort to maximise our... More

We are already planning our return trip to the best game reserve that we have ever visited here in South Africa. As South Africans who have spent much time in the bush over the past 30 years, it was with sheer delight that we stumbled upon this majestic "peace" of heaven. We were awestruck by the setting of Woodbury Lodge... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in November and had a brilliant time. The staff were all excellent and our guide, Kyle, was incredibly knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was infectious. The food was really good but we thought the facilities were a tiny bit shabby in places. Our only gripe was that you had to pay to hire binoculars which... More

We visited Amakhala this November and found the Woodbury Lodge excellent in every respect. The accommodation and food were perfect and the staff all went out of their way to make out stay enjoyable. The game drives were a never to be forgotten experience and our ranger Ammi went out of her way to impart all her knowledge and passion... More
