Like a previous review we found this place to very unique and great to visit. The owner was really nice to chat with and looked after us. The were suggested the new apartments and what a place, it was simply an awesome experience. We have stayed in the carriages, very unique and fun, and then to try our the apartments,... More

Thank you Rimu Lodge for looking after us so well. Lovely apartment - got upgraded to a swanky suite for a booking issue entirely of our own making. Convenient place to stay if you're doing the Tongariro Crossing. Nice local restaurants and bars within walking/stumbling distance. We particularly appreciated having our own fireplace to curl up in front of after... More

My husband and I stayed here recently while doing the Tongariro Crossing with a large group. We all had a variety of accommodation, but we stayed in the train carriage. Very unique and a fun stay. We arrive just after 6pm and the office should have been open but was not, however our key was readily available in the office... More

We took advantage of the two night Tongariro Crossing deal in January 2013. The place was easy to find and there was a number of options available. We chose the studio apartment as we planned to be out of the room nearly the entire time. The room itself was a good setup however it was incredibly dusty in the room... More

What a great lot of fun staying in the train carriage. There is heaps of space, bunk beds and fold outs and a double bedroom at one end (although the bed is a bit uncomfortable). The carriage was clean and well equipped, warm enough on a really cold night and is just a bit of something different that you certainly... More

Fantastic place for a large family group, great rooms, 3 bthrms, 5 dble bdrms, spa right outside the door, warm, comfortable, spacious, great value. Beautiful view of Mt Ruapehu outside the lounge window, close to restaurants and bars.

Very close to the junction which is the main party area, but still far enough away to not hear the music. I stayed in a dorm in the lodge, nice and warm. Everything was pretty basic but that's all you really need

We stayed in one of the railway carriages. We loved how unique they were and how close to everything they were. Separate bathroom and toilet, double bedroom, kitchenette with microwave, electric fry pan, and the normal basic kitchen stuff. Unfortunately we found the beds Very uncomfortable. the double bed was a very thin mattress on top of wooden slats. The... More

We stayed for one night in one of two Railway Carriages available - $100 a night. Wonderful experience and close to The Junction for drinks and eats...only a 3 minute walk. Has separate bedroom and shower/tiolet etc ..includes TV and kitchen. Dined at Powerkeg and went for a walk on the Old Coach Road.
