Now we are not talking about 4 season in NYC. Please keep in mind this review is for Costa Rica. The location is near Manuel Antonio which offers more night life. If you are looking for a quieter evening (say for a family), you may want to stay away from Manuel Antonio. Kayak Lodge's appearance is deceiving but for its... More

We just return from 8 days in Costa Rica and our last 3 nights were in kayak lodge, we picked this hotel because of the relatively good ( we were there during spring break so hotels were packed and pricy) price and location . We had a car so we drove ourself from monteverde and we did daily trip to... More

We have stayed at several accommodations during our stay in Costa Rica, and chose this was whilst we were in the country as we had read good reviews of the kayak trip through the mangroves. We had read it was up a residential road, but we were surprised that it was in such a weird place. It was really an... More

My husband and I stayed at the Kayak Lodge for 3 nights at the end of our trip to Costa RIca and I have to admit that I had reserved feelings at first glance as we were tired and hot from drive from Monteverde.Alittle language barrier with staff but we made it work. She showed us to our room which... More

The place is located about 8 km north of Quepos, which makes it 15 Km from Manuel Antonio National Park. It is good to have a car, allowing freedom to eat dinner in town and drive up to the hotel area on the way to the Park. (Como Si No hotel has movies every night and you enter their movie... More

Yesterday I had a reservation at Kayak Lodge which I got through booking.com. My confirmation stated that it was for a garden view room, $80/night, for 4 nights. It seemed a little expensive for me, but Trip Advisors reviews were so glowing I thought it would be worth the extra expense. When I arrived at the hotel, completely exhausted by... More

Kayak Lodge is an oasis nestled behind miles of palm tree farms and next to some pretty gnarly mangroves. It was a perfect place to end our 7 day trip. It had all the comforts of home plus some luxurious touches. Bernardo and Marlene were not only the most friendly, helpful and gracious hosts, but the grounds they built were... More

My first impression was not strong. I was spending a quick getaway weekend with a colleague after work in SJ and made last minute reservations. Drove up and there was no staff, then someone came out from the back and showed us a single room with two beds. I had booked two separate rooms. But it got better right away... More

My stay at Kayak Lodge was four nights in total, and the number of people passing thru the while I was there was around 4.. It's location is 7 km from Quepos on the Jaco side. It's the only hotel in the aria and the only restaurant. The food was great though and Senora Marlene will drive you anywhere for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Kayak Lodge is a Christian family hotel, committed to the natural environment: Protected area of tropical mangrove vegetation. The hotel has 20 rooms with private bath, air conditioning, hot water, local and satellite TV, outdoor pool, parking and launch ramp for kayaks and boat. The mangrove ecosystem of Isla Damas is one of the most visited tourist sites. Nature lovers can see one of the more unusual types of vegetation on the planet, and learn the importance of this delicate ecosystem. Mangroves grow in the tide land: where salty ocean waters merge with the fresh waters of tropical rivers creating a periodically submerged forest of interlacing aerial roots. There are about 50 km of canals where you are in the habitat of a variety of tropical flora and fauna. You can see white-faced monkeys playing in the trees, shake hands with a monkey on the balcony of the hotel, the lazy sloth, iguanas, crocodiles, bats, otters, raccoons, turtles, many types of resident birds, and the anteater. Take advantage of this diverse and self-sustaining way of life, taking a kayak trip to "Isla Damas" (Ladies Island), or rent a boat to go fishing. The Jetty of the Kayak-Lodge. This service center is used by operators to bring cruise tourists arriving in Puerto Quepos to give them a boat ride through the mangroves. Souvenir and gift shop, coffee, snack of biscuits, fresh fruit and beverages available.Throughout the year we offer boat rides and kayak rental. ... more   less
