Hotel Puerto Viejo was a random pick and we ended up staying there for five nights. Loved the upstairs rooms, with open (mosquito netted) windows all around. Not so good if you want privacy though. Absolutely beautiful to lie in bed the one day that it rained. Great location, close to the beach and bars. Staff were odd and the... More

stayed at Hotel Puerto Viejo for $10 per person. Private room shared bath. Adequate but not exceptional. Setup to maximize backpacker traffic. Kitchen poorly equipped. Reasonable location. Many better facilities available but is a good choice if just passing through. Great beach and only $25 foor shuttle to Boca Town in Panama.

our room was clean and had mosquito fencing. The room was cool and also had a fan but we had one of the better rooms upstairs. The bathrooms were adequately clean but the kitchen is in shambles. no plates and limited cutlery. I don't have any major complaints other than the staff are obviously not liking their jobs and argue... More

Stayed here for one night as pretty much everywhere else was full. The girl on the reception desk was nice and friendly when we arrived. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom for $24 which was incredibly expensive for what it was. The room was tiny but did have a good fan. It had a big window with... More

Arrived in town late at night, our two preferred choices were full so we looked in the LP and saw hotel puerto viejo was close by. Stayed in room 26, it is a large room, quiet area, secure windows and door, clean, none of those bad bugs etc. Bathrooms were pretty standard for the country we are in, always clean.... More

This hotel has an extremely weird vibe, there is a very random mix of people staying here and it felt more like a halfway house than a hotel. I got eaten alive by Mosquitos at night! I had a very bad nights sleep because of it. This place could do with some mosquito nets. The kitchen is absolute rubbish!!!! I... More

Location is good. NONETHELESS, wanted to get out of this place first thing in the morning. The floor was wet when we first entered the room. The bed sheets and the mattresses had a funky smell. The entire room smelled moldy. Got numerous unknown bug bites even after spraying bug spray over the bed and my arms and legs. The... More

There were 4 of us and we were too scared to sleep at night. We saw the BIGGEST centipede we've ever seen before (in our room). The staffs were nice, but there were many ramdom drunk people hanging around the front desk during the night. The location was great though. Maybe it's a hotel for the party animals, but definitely... More

Please DO NOT stay at the Hotel Puerto Viejo. It has a good write up in the lonley planet (CA on a shoestring) however that is very dated. The staff are rude and the kitchen is durty and has no cooking equipment. We had our room broken into and whislt it was seen by staff they did nothig about it.... More

The beach in Puerto Viejo is stunning. There is plenty to do in the town and a good night life. I am eager to go back but I won't stay at Hotel Puerto Viejo. I went with a large group of people and several of us ended up in a private room off to the side. I don't know if... More
