I have stayed in the Howard Johnson Huaihai Plaza during several visits over the last two years to Shanghai, and whilst the hotel is in a great location, standards have progressively dropped.
Rooms are of a decent size and bathrooms well equipped, but the carpets are worn, walls are thin and a refurbishment is desperately needed.

It was wonderful staying here, with very clean rooms and bathrooms. Awesome 15Mbps wi-fi in room and lobby. The hotel is perfectly located right in middle of action and couple of mins to the Subway train stop. Plenty of food and shopping options around. Only disappointment was the missing Swimming pool but anyway its just a small thing.

Great hotel for business travelers who want to stay in the French Concession. It's a clean and modern hotel with a great gym. And it is a great value at less than 1,000 RMB a night. After staying in several different hotels in SH this will be my first choice going forward.

Stayed here recently on business. Check in fine and straightforward. Rooms spacious. I had a corner suite. Nice To have the wardrobe tucked away in the corner room. Wifi worked ok. Good sized bathroom and bed. However walls were too thin. I could hear the occupants next door including when they had a bath etc. Not ideal!
