For transit I can recommend this place.Atmosphere is quiet and calm. Friendly staff. But foods were not all that good. The swimming pool was a very strange colour but once in it was fine and very refreshing.

We stayed only one night and were glad it wasn't longer. The rooms were a good size but rather dark and dingy with no windows, the bathroom walls and ceiling were covered in mould. Stayed here for one night whilst visiting the Buddha cave temples ( which were amazing). The rooms were fine although a bit dark and gloomy. We stopped for 1 night. The rooms were clean, spacious & comfortable, no complaints but the evening meal & breakfast were quite poor. Restaurant staff were not very interested. Sleep here but eat elsewhere. They have a large, good looking pool.

Our experience is similar to others who have recently reviewed the Gimanhala. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. This hotel is a little tired looking but clean enough. Our room was large and well equipped eg with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, bedside lights and mosquito nets (just remember to use them!)
