Stayed with my son’s soccer team in early July 2019 at this barely motel for ONE night and it was probably the worst experience of my life! We drove up with a large 30+ group of people for a soccer tournament and the hotel was clearly under heavy renovations. Rain was pouring into the hotel lobby with only plastic coverings to protect the open areas from weather. The lobby was flooded, the whole hotel smelled like raw sewage and it was FREEZING and windy IN the hotel. You cannot run a hotel like this when the hotel is in barely functional condition for guests. Rooms were terribly smelly of sewage and the hotel was not prepared for our visit. The staff was nice enough but a hotel absolutely cannot be run this way - it is not safe or comfortable for guests when the hotel is charging for such POOR accommodations. The owners need to shut down the hotel until the rooms are somewhat functional. I would NEVER return to this barely functional hotel and they should be embarrassed to have any guests see and let alone STAY at the hotel when it is in this horrible shape.

We spent one night at the Bel-Air - in the end the negatives outweigh the positives. As one reviewer pointed out, the setting is spectacular - but then, it is Teresopolis, so of course it is. The place was pretty much empty, other than us, and we asked to have dinner at the hotel. The beer was warm, there was enough sand in the salad to make it inedible, food was served and then we had to wait for utensils - not impressive. As for the regular rooms, they were OK, although the windows rattle in the wind and the water takes forever to warm up - probably that's not an issue when (if) there are more guests. We poked our heads into a couple of the "suites" - the lighting was depressing. The staff was friendly (they're Brazilian, after all), but not that well organized. The one bright spot was the morning breakfast buffet - it was well laid-out, tasty, and caught us off guard in a good way! However, the price for everything was a good bit more than the whole experience was worth. Can't recommend it.

I had difficulties in rating this hotel - more than average, a little bit less than very good. But, overall, it was a nice stay in a definitely decent hotel. The location is stunning, with amazing views of the surrounding Serra dos Órgãos National Park and also looking down to the Baixada Fluminense. While the rooms are nothing very special, they're comfortable, large, with good beds and bathrooms (with jacuzzi bathtubs in some), but perhaps a little on the dark and dingy side. The service is very good indeed, and extremely friendly. The Manager is helpful and chatty, and always willing to help wherever anything's needed. The food is excellent, and we were impressed with the ability to rustle up meals on the spot, to a very high quality. There's free wifi, a nice bar, a games room, heated and natural swimming pools, and saunas. A gym is, apparently, also being constructed. I'd definitely recommend the place, and enjoyed my stay.
