My wife and I stayed in April 2013. The hotel is in a safe part of Rio close to Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Paid too much for an old hotel. Bad linens, bad towels, cheap soap and shampoo. They charge a fortune for everything, even to use the safety deposit box. I stayed there for 5 days. the positive is that the hotel is relatively clean. the breakfast is good. The location is perfect. The negatives: Small room is ok, but the bed is cheap and unconfortable.
