We loved our stay at this hotel! The hotel is beautiful--newly renovated with beautiful art and a gorgeous patio for watching the sun set. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and quite comfortable with free wi-fi and cable tv. The staff at this pousada are beyond friendly and made our stay so much more enjoyable. The wife of the owner,... More

The Solar do Carmo is a beautifully remodeled house with eight or nine rooms total. The view looking directly out is the bay. The view down is a ship yard. We had a lower room with a balcony that solved this problem by using large plants to mask the view downward while still letting you take in the sunsets on... More

My husband and I stayed in a quiet 3rd floor room with air conditioning and a balcony facing the bay. We booked the hotel using booking.com and had no problems. The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff were very friendly and eager to recommend restaurants / sights. Breakfast is included and consists of a large spread of traditional Brazilian... More

Whilst hotel seemed fine in general terms my particular room was noisy. You can hear all the comings and goings from downtairs, and passageways echo. Perhaps not all rooms have this problem but beware in room 302 which is at the crossroads of the stairs and the dining room. The view out of my window was a blank wall a... More

After 15 days in Brazil this hotel, which on paper was our most dubious reserve, was by far the best. The fact that we had room 201, which is probably one of the biggest (we were three persons) and has a direct view of the bay, probably a topper. In this boutique hotel we were looked after by Clara, the... More

This small hotel is located just at the outskirts of Pelourinho with easy access to this historic and beautiful old part of Salvador. Nice reception area, fantastic breakfast with homemade bread, marmelade and cookies and a lovely terrasse with a great view of the bay where you get awesome caipirinhas - 2 for the price of 1 between 5-7 pm.... This is an example of expectations not meeting reality, as this hotel was wildly different from what I expected! To begin, when we arrived at the hotel from the airport, the neighborhood (which was supposedly in the Historic District) was so run-down and shabby that the cab driver was reluctant to let us out of the cab, and did not... The hotel is in the centre of the city, which is great but some details make it far from perfect. The rooms are not really clean (there were stains on the sheet and, although they changed ours, there were still stains on the other ones). The bathroom is not very practical : everytime you take a shower, there is water... More
