Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

5 out of 5 ! Beautiful, quiet , clean . The proprietor is so nice and warm.. I would recommend this place for anyone visiting Salvador. I forgot to mention the breakfast ! Don’t miss it . And the internet is faster than Jesus . I plan on making this a yearly pilgrimage

A beautiful colourful facade reveals an even more colourful, charming and cosy interior. Built in the style of a Mediterranean patio you'll find the rooms upstairs and the common areas with library, sofa lounges and restaurant on the ground floor. Our room faced the small cobblestone street and had everything we needed (bathroom, fridge, AC, wifi). It was calm at night. The breakfast was spectacular. A rich buffet with lots of delicious exotic surprises to the European taste. The view onto the bay was fantastic. Located on a narrow cobblestone street on the northern end of the old town, you'll find most sights within walking range. It's a 15 minutes walk to the escalator with small supermarkets and banks on the way. Down there by the harbour you'll find boats and tour operators to the beaches of Morro de Sao Paulo. If you want to leave the old town you should take a cab. We found the surrounding neighbourhoods pretty dangerous. Pousada de Arts recommends a very nice and reliable driver (Miró) We may want to come back:)

This pousada is located in a typically Salvador neighbourhood. The building itself is to wow visitors. It feels like you will live in a Bahiana house for a short time. That includes breakfast which will give you a taste of the local morning cuisine. We had a balcony sea view and did enjoy it. The sunsets are beautiful and unforgettable. The staff are second to none. They are so friendly, considerate and helpful. You know you’re in Bahia. My most heartfelt thank you to the kitchen and reception staff who are absolute sweethearts.

I chose this hotel in Salvador because of its location, its price and the good reviews it had received. First, the hotel is in an excellent location if you want to roam around Pelourinho (as most tourists do). The décor and appearance is very different from any hotel I have ever stayed in. It has vivid colours everywhere and even more during carnival time! The room we had was on the top floor…carrying our MANY heavy cases up and down was a task in the heat but not something that bothered me at all. I loved the hotel appearance. For me, quirky is good. It was clean and the air conditioning worked well. There was no tv in the room but again, not something that bothered me; I’d never use it. The internet connection was good and was reliable. There was a mini bar and for the first time ever (I think) I consumed drinks from it because they were so reasonably priced. I NEVER drink minibar drinks because I consider them to be extortionate but these were very well priced. The breakfast was really nice. It’s set out in a room downstairs with a view across the sea. It was delightful. And, the staff cooking and preparing breakfast were happy and helpful. That is true of the staff on reception also who helped us with many things. This hotel is not a flashy, ultra-modern hotel with all the trimmings. If that is the sort of place you like then you will probably not find Pousada des Arts as enjoyable as we did. I honestly don’t have any negative things to say about the hotel and especially not when you take into account the price. If I had to find one criticism it would be this (and I am really trying hard to fine one): believe it or not, wandering around reception and the sort of ‘relaxation area’ were two tortoises. Now, that didn’t bother me and in fact it made me smile. I loved watching them walking around. So, the only criticism I could possibly make is that the hotel should just mention these in its description/notes because someone may have a phobia or dislike tortoises (its possible) and book and receive a surprise. I guess the likelihood of that happening is very very slim since it probably hasn’t happened yet because you would expect such an event to cause the hotel owners to thereafter make mention ahead of time. I really liked this place.

We spent 2 days and one night here. The building is over 350 years old and is beautifully decorated and colourful. Our room was #1 on the second floor facing the back of the building. It was large (canopy bed with mosquito netting) with twin beds and a large bathroom. Best of all was the large private outdoor patio with chairs, mini fridge, hammock and small eating table with 2 chairs - all large enough for a family. The view of the ocean and port were wonderful. It's not called Pousada Des Arts for nothing - it's fully of beautiful, lively art and a pleasure to spend time in.

The pousada is really cute, the rooms are nice as well. It is all colorful. Clean. It is located near the historic center, very easy to go there walking, and safe. The restaurants nearby are very good. 4 and not 5 because it is the only pousada where there is such a "strict" way of presenting the rules (that you sign) with the price of each object in case you break it. Plus, we were leaving like 30 mns before the breakfast official time and they did not even propose a little thing to take away or so.

I recommend this as a place to stay in Salvador because it’s central and by the sea, however the breakfast was incredible with a vast range of homemade and local delights prepared and served by two beautiful and friendly ladies!!!

i booked for 2 nights but stayed just one in 13th of january 18, i could not sleep at all because of the noise all night long of the ceiling fan and of the air conditionning of the room wich was just below of my room. i asked to change but got no answer from the staff who did not speak english, and the owner did not want to speak to me by the phone. So i left and 3 days later the pousada debited my account banking fot the second night that i canceled because of the strong noise. Further more, i could not use the balcony of my room because the 2d part of the aircon of the room below was fixed on my balcony and which was functionning noisily all night. I do not recommend this ^pousada.

It was a lovely stay at this Inn. The decorations are impeccable and colorful. The rooms are clean and the bathroom spacious and also have toiletries. Rose welcomed us and explained everything about the town, touristic places and provided as with maps. She also is very knowledgeable on restaurants and coffee shops. They have hairdryer upon request. This place is walking distance from Pelourinho The room has a balcony, but try to negotiate the ones with ocean view. The street view is ok though. I arrived very late in the night and Rose was so kind in receiving me. Merci! The breakfast is lovely and the view is great. I had cheese bread, ham and cheese sandwich, rabanada, watermelon juice, coffee and milk. Everything delicious. There is no elevator, so mind your heavy luggage. The place has 3 stories.

What an incredible place! Only stayed one night in this beautiful art hotel before we set off to relax on an island but really hope we can return at some point! The artist herself makes gorgeous art and the hotel is stunning in every single detail! Bed is comfortable, breakfast delicious! Perfect stay!!
