Spent 3 nights here in October 2011. They arranged for car pickup for us from the airport (80R), went smoothly. Rooms were clean and had bottled water. We arrived late, and the next day we had a wonderful breakfast, one of the best we had in Brazil. The 2 owners were great, and helped us by going over all the... More

Very nice and colorful pousada. Nathalie and Stephanie are very friendly and helpful. Barra is nice neighborhood to stay, I really recommend it. The beach and nice restaurants are at walking distance. You can easily take a bus or taxi to the historic centre of Salvador. More

A great pousada in Barra - close to all that one needs in Salvador. The hosts: Stephanie and Nathalie, are superb hosts who answer all questions (in multiple languages) and are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are cozy but comfortable and the breakfast is incredibly tasty with homemade breads, sweet cakes, fresh fruit, and delicious coffee or tea. My wife... More

We loved this place. While it is not fancy, it is spotless and charming. Stephanie was wonderful- gave us suggestions, wrote down itineraries and addresses, called the theater when we were going to be late. Nathalie was great- she was very patient with our daughter who wanted to brush up on her French. The breakfasts are good- the usual pastries,... More

At 120 BRL for a double a night, La Villa Francaise was the best valued lodging option we took during our 2 week stay in Brazil. The owners put in a lot of thought into furnishing the place, so while it was not luxurious, the rooms were large and airy, clean and comfortable; there were plenty of seats and swings... More

We stayed for 2 nights in the Villa Francaise. It had everything they had promised but is very basic. The rooms were very clean (a priority for us), the breakfast was absolutely sufficient for our needs and the service from Stephanie and Nathalie was outstanding. Stephanie in particular made our stay much more enjoyable by taking the time to talk... More

We arrived at about 12pm at night after a 28 hour length of our journey to hear our names called out by the owner Stephanie who had stayed back to welcome us well past her normal leaving time of around 10pm. This place is French, English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish language friendly. LOCATION: For carnaval in Barra it is perfect!... More
