The signs are obvious when you arrive. The garden is well tended, with comfortable spots to settle. The public rooms are welcoming, with none of the fussy clutter that is so common in this species of accommodations. And, the rooms are an indication of the great care the innkeeper, Ellen Campbell, takes with the place. There is a dark wash... More

We rolled into Ashland Friday evening with no place to stay and called the Chanticleer. Ellen was in the garden working and made the effort to make us feel welcome in Ashland. We found our way to Gresham Street and Ellen was waiting to make our visit fabulous. The home and rooms were well appointed and Ellen gave us all... More

Just returned from our third stay with Ellen and can't wait to return....and we WILL, in the fall for a longer stay. We are the newbies in a group of long-standing guests of Ellen's. From the moment we met Ellen we felt taken care of, which is why we will keep returning again and again. Wonderful breakfasts, charming, comfy rooms,... More

We called the top four B&Bs in Ashland to see where we wanted to spend the night. They were all rated the same and pricing was basically the same, too. We went with this one for one reason - the person who answered our call was extremely friendly and helpful. Come to find out it was the owner of the... More

We returned yesterday from a 3 night stay. We have done so before and we plan to do so again. Usually when I review a place, or anything else, I am able to think of something especially nice to say, or I am able to suggest something that might improve something......but because Ellen takes care of everything in advance, and/or... This B & B offered everything we were looking for: walking distance to the plays, town, and restaurants, beautiful setting with gardens, lush views from the room (nearby mountains),clean and comfortable room and inn, delicious breakfasts, and really lovely decor. It was quiet in a delightful neighborhood. Our room, Maitre, was comfortable and we would stay there again. We often... More

My wife and I had a great stay in June. The room was very comfortable, the breakfasts wonderful, and all within easy walking distance of the OSF venues and many fine restaurants. Ellen was able to accommodate our vegetarian diet, and also let us charge our electric car.

My daughter and I were put into the Aerie room for 2 nights. Very nice, cozy room. Beautiful view. The room stayed warm. The owner was not there, but we were well taken care of by Niki. She did a beautiful job at breakfast. Plenty of food and everything was delicious! We are from the East Coast and prior to... More

Upon arrival, we were taken on a tour and taken to our room by the owner, Ellen. Everything was beautiful, comfortable and clean. She provided wonderful information about restaurants in Talent where we were headed. The next morning breakfast was a treat because the people at the table along with Ellen provided intelligent and challenging conversation. We did not want... More

My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay at the Chanticleer Inn in early October. It is a lovely home with a most beautiful garden. Easy access to town, and the theaters are about four blocks away. Ellen was a great hostess, not only preparing the very good breakfasts but eating and chatting with her guests. We had a... More
