Great hotel in a central location of Kuala Lumpur, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet, with 4 different areas, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian and Western food. The lunch buffet on weekdays is really great and is available for a very reasonable price, plus there is a 25% discount for Hilton Gold and Diamond Members and 10% for other Hilton Members. Professional gym, pool, sauna and massage. Great location in a shopping mall, with many shops, restaurants, McDonald's and supermarket. The Ampang Park metro station is only about 200 meters away, but I prefer to walk. It's about 10 - 15 minutes to the PetronasTowers, there's also an aquarium here, and from there it's about 10 - 15 minutes to walk to Bukit Bintang. There is an air-conditioned pedestrian crossing from the Petronas Towers and you then go straight into a large shopping mall with many international labels, but that would be too expensive for me. If you walk through the shopping mall to the beautiful fountain and then keep to the right, you will come to the Bukit Bintang metro station, there is a McDonald's, to the left of it are two money exchange offices, here you can find the cheapest exchange rates, not only in Malaysian Ringgit, but also via Ringgit to other international currencies. The spread between the dollar and the ringgit is only 1%. (cheaper than any credit card) The cheapest exchange rates used to be opposite the hotel in the Ampang Mall, but unfortunately this was demolished a few years ago. From Bukit Bintang I usually walk on to China Town, from there to the Botanical Gardens, then to the Negara Planetarium, which is usually closed when I come, so it's better to google the opening times online beforehand. From here down to the National Mosque of Malaysia, nearby is also the Islamic Arts and the Royal Police Museum Malaysia and at the Botanical Garden the Butterfly and Bird Park. From the National Mosque I then walk to the City Gallery and Merdeka Square, where you can take nice photos. Then over to the Central Market with many small shops with Malaysian handicrafts, paintings, etc. further to the Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque located on a small peninsula and from there through the Indian Area back to the hotel. A very nice tour up to the Kuala Lumpur Tower and from there to the Eco Park with its suspension bridges up in the trees. Of course you can also do the whole thing by metro or bus. There is also a free bus on a certain route, but I never used it. Great playground for children in the Botanical Gardens and a huge playground behind the Petronas Towers. As a Lifetime Diamond Member (at least 1000 nights and 10 years as a Diamond Member) I always get an upgrade to a nice suite. Fully furnished, with shower, bathtub, toilet and sink, double bed, sofa and desk in the bedroom and front room, wardrobe, safe, iron and ironing board, television in both rooms, refrigerator, coffee maker, tea and coffee powder. A few sweets and fruit to welcome you. A high status at Hilton has a number of advantages and pays off over the years. The higher your status, the more points you get for overnight stays, and there are always promotions with double and triple points. You can then use this for free overnight stays; if you book 4 nights with it, you get the 5 night stay for free. Hotel overnight stays are available from 5,000 points upwards, the average is 50,000 to 60,000 points per night, but in some cases it can be higher. I currently have a little over 2 million points and have already been over 3 million. Depending on your status, breakfast is free, plus an upgrade if it's free. As a Diamond Member you still have access to the Executive Lounge if available, with free drinks, coffee and cake in the afternoon and happy hour with snacks, canapes and alcoholic drinks in the evening. Executive lounges mainly in Hilton hotels (except for the USA, rather poor service there) in DoubleTree hotels, not everywhere, so it's great that this service is available at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. I don't know where to start, the breakfast buffet is one of the best I've had the pleasure of enjoying anywhere in the world in terms of selection and quality. No matter whether you prefer Asian or European, there is something for everyone here. When you come into the restaurant, on the right in the next room is the Chinese area, which unfortunately is often overlooked by guests. I can't even list what there is. I especially like the fried noodles, rice, dim sum in different variations, spring rolls and much more. In the large restaurant there is the Makan Kitchen in the middle, with the great buffet all around, in the front right various salads, nuts, dressings, behind them the fruit, watermelon, papaya, melon, bananas, apples, etc., various types of sausage and cheese. Then comes the area where you can have the soup cooked, different ingredients, different types of noodles, then the station for the fried eggs, omelettes, boiled eggs etc. Then on the right side the Indian buffet with all kinds of Indian dishes, chicken curry, Fish curry, then at the back of the Makan Kitchen the Western Breakfast area, with mushrooms, fried vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, fried potatoes, the Malaysian cuisine area, then the area with the sweet things, various types of jam, cake pieces, yeast pieces, etc. and then the Range of different types of bread and rolls. There are also various types of juice, coffee and tea. I always go to breakfast first thing in the morning at 6:30 a.m., then it's still pretty quiet and you can have breakfast in a relaxed manner. I then sit in the small niche to the left of the buffet. There is always a larger bowl there for me. Of course I like to eat Asian food and I like to make soup for myself. To do this, I give the cook at the soup station some ingredients, which he then boils for me in hot water and fills into my bowl with one of the soups on offer, tom yam, chicken soup, but only half full, so that I still have room to put mine to put together your own soup. e.g. with fried noodles, rice, dim sum, fried mushrooms and vegetables, from chicken curry no meat just the sauce, chilli and other ingredients. Really delicious. I also make myself a plate with mixed salad and fruit. Really great breakfast and great team, that's the only reason I come to the DoubleTree in Kuala Lumpur to enjoy the great service here. I can only recommend the lunch buffet on weekdays. A large selection of specialties from different countries, China, Malaysia, India and Western, many types of meat, satay skewers, roasted duck, chicken, fish, curries, fried noodles, rice, various soups, salads, dessert, ice cream. I'm not hungry after my big breakfast, but I just can't say no two to three times a week. It's best to come right around 12 p.m., then it's still very quiet, especially the roast duck is still hot and the restaurant isn't that full yet. A little later, many employees from the surrounding banks come to lunch. I like the roast duck, satay skewers, chicken Chinese and, of course, ice cream for dessert, which can be 12 scoops. A great offer, normally around 18 euros, as a Gold and Diamond member you get a 25% discount, which means around 14.50 euros, I then give the 3.50 euros discount back to the employees, so everyone gets something out of it. For guests with Diamond status and guests who have booked the Executive Rooms, there is the Executive Lounge on the upper floor, with friendly staff and great service. Free drinks during opening hours. Nibbles, a nice buffet in the evening with salads, desserts, fruit, sandwiches, cheese and hot dishes. Plus free alcoholic drinks such as wine, beer and cocktails during happy hour. I have uploaded some photos of it, a really good selection, many Hilton hotels can follow an example. However, I only used the lounge once for a few minutes; after the great breakfast and lunch buffet, I really wasn't hungry in the evening. There are of course plenty of leisure options in Kuala Lumpur. The hotel has a professional fitness studio with great staff who can show beginners how to use the equipment, with a sauna and massage. There is also a pool, a bit too shallow for me, suitable for children. Of course, Kuala Lumpur has tons of leisure activities. City tours with the double-decker bus, excursions and tours, museums and mosques, shopping malls, botanical gardens, Petronas Towers with a huge playground behind them, butterfly park, bird park and much more.…
